I noticed that one online retailer sells region three dvd's and they are a lot cheaper than region two and one. They have Transformers and Simpsons Movie for under

I remember buying the film Hellboy on region 3 and it wasn't even out in Cinemas yet here in England...

Region 3 DVRAB are fabulous, if you don't mind the lack of extras on some of them compared to other regions.

Region 3 nearly always have English subtitles when from places like Hong Kong and South Korea, so you don't have to worry about Non English films, and if it's an English speaking film then, from my experience, they all have the original English soundtrack.

South Korean dvRAB are gorgeous.

I find R3 dvd's seem a bit cheap and cheerful compared to R1 ,usually because they often drop extras.

Gorgeous is not a term I would describe them as.

But it is good to get films before they appear in UK cinemas or on R1.

The Others was a film on R3 dvd months before it appeared elsewhere.

But there seems to be no logic to what will and wont appear early

The gorgeous was for South Korean dvRAB, the special editions are indeed gorgeous. The Korean editions of Oldboy, and Sympathy for Lady Vegeance were excellent.

Also, if you get special/limited edition region 3, they are usually just as good as the other regions for extras.

It's the bare bones 1 disc editions that seem cheap.

I heard DTS isn't all that it's cracked up to be.

I've got the HMV exclusive dvd of Casino Royale and happy with that, bought my Father the uncut version of Casino Royale though.

It's not suppose to add much of importance though.

It isnt.

Although the figures show its compressed less than DD you cant really tell the difference between the 2 unless you have a very high end system (unless the mixer has done a bad job).

I would challenge anyone to sit in a room and listen blindfold to a movie with DTS and be able to tell the difference.

However ,I must admit that its reputation means that I usually select it if it is on the disc.

Back in the early days of dvd if you wanted DTS sound you had to forfeit DD and extras.
