Regarding financial aid?

I'm attending Cal State LA in the Fall. I turned in my FAFSA right on time and a few months ago checked my EFC online and that is how I figured I was gonna be pretty covered because it came out as 00000. But other than having checked online, I know nothing. I thought I'd receive some kind of notice or something. I don't know how these things work, but I just feel the Fall semester's not too long from now, so when once I'm registered and all that, would it all just handle itself or what? I'd just like to be aware of how it's all going to be payed out.

As long as you've been accepted into your college and have reported your choice to FAFSA in the initial financial aid form, your financial aid advisor and your college will take care of the rest. However, you still need to go in and talk to a financial aid advisor as soon as possible to make sure everything is running smoothly as far as grants and scholarships. This needs to be done several weeks before Fall semester begins. Make an appointment with a fin aid advisor instead of just walking in and waiting. It can take ALL DAY for someone to get to you. Then, after your fin aid is finalized, schedule classes as soon as you can. I waited until 2 weeks before Fall semester my freshman year and I only got 12 of my recommended 16 hours scheduled. Everything else was booked.

I hope this helps! Don't be intimidated or nervous, just have fun! There is always someone there who has gone through the same steps and can help you through. Good luck!
