Try prevacid, i believe that it is now sold without prescription. I recently switched from losec to prevacid and i can finally eat and i feel sooooooooooo much better. Like you i just wasen't well there were so many symptoms but the most annoying was the constant belching and passing gas that i couldn't leave the house. Eating consisted of baby fruits, now i am eating an i feel good. Please try the prevacid, i hope it works i take one a day 20mg.

Sorry to hear that. I know what you're going through although this is new to me. What bothers me the most is the burning in the chest and neck. I don't know what to do. Hope you find something. I think sometimes the headaches and diarrhea are from the meRAB.

I need to see if I can get those meRAB in the Uk over the counter. I was back at the doctors yersteday - I asked so many questions but he never gave me really any answers - I also asked how long before it gets any concens over constant toilet problems, he never seemed bothered about that either? I am of dairy products - the smell puts me off - and Im not eating to well - The constant nawing mid chest is awful and never any relief from it - I found myself angry today and got irrate with myself !!!!! - I just wish it would go away - the doctors are often just a waste of time - depenRAB on who you get - I have the camera investigation on the 27th - I hope that brings back an answer (one that is good!!! - but a finding!) So wearing all this - Thanks, Karen

I have had acid reflux on and off for a couple of years now. this time its back with a vengeance. My insurance has changed and they wont cover my wonderful Zegerid so I'm stuck with the wonderful Omeprazole. I'm only on 20mg though so I need to see if I can go up to 40mg because I'm drastically losing weight now because I still cant eat much of anything - AT ALL.

My question is I'm wondering if anyone else suffers from the same symptoms I do? I know most of them are extremely common, but I wonder about a few others.
sore throat
lump/ache in chest
**pain in between shoulder blades that almost makes you also feel tense most of the time (this is a bad one)
burping
diarrhea some days
stomach pain
headache (not everyday)
**feeling tired or wore out cause you can't sleep well either
I also feel anxious daily and horrid when I wake up but I have a history of anxiety so I'm used to that right now..haha

Anyway..any input will help. Thanks

yes, many of your symptoms i am familiar with. I hope you feel better soon. Just wanted you to know you are not alone:)

Hi - Like yourself I have suffered with Acid Reflux for two plus years - I can be okay for a month or so - it then return and goes - however the last few months I have had severe attcks. I am currenty having one right now - into the second week. I have all your problems - this time round they are worse than ever: -

Severe mid back pain - lying down to sleep is very painful
Lump/ache in chest - goes through to the back
Burping is constant
Intermiting diarrhea
Stomach pain
Feeling tired and worn out as not sleeping
I am also anxious daily as this causes such a mixture of things to your body........

I got blood tests done on 5th Deceraber - it ruled out liver problems - HPylori infection (I had this 2 years ago) and the basic tests the Doctor does when a problem starts.

I ended up calling NHS 24 - they were no help and I attended the Surgery yesterday to see my Doctor (6th) As I have a few things going on that can relate to other things she done a few blood tests to check overies and bowel - also refering me to get seen at the hospital - inverstgation via the camera. She upped my Omeprazole to 40mg a day and I can take Gaviscon also.

The main thing that is bothering me is the back pain - it really is severe and it came on so suddenly - The feeling of wanting to eat but not sure if you / I should - is causing stress - Then the intermitting stabbing chest pains - I am like you really fed up and just want to see an end to this - the symtoms are so varied and I wonder what others think - can / could this be related to another condition?

I sympathise and really can relate to your post.

Karen

Hi..sorry you are having such a rough time. I have been there too. I finally called the Dr on call on New Years Eve and it happened to my doc that was on call thank goodness! She took me off the Omeprazole temporarily and is having me take 2 Prilosecs a day for 8 weeks to hopefully get this under control. She said it is better than Omeprazole. OTC stuff being better than prescription? That's nuts...costs about the same but it is working better so I cant say much. I still wish I had my Zegerid back though. It took everything away and made me feel completely normal....I have had a couple of normal days since New Years Eve but still cant eat anything I want...darn it! lol

Hi again - Today I am in real pain - the double dose of Omeprazole certaintly is not working - I wonder why it stops working??? I got a call from the day centre hospital and they have made an app for me on the 27th of jan to get the camera down to have a look - it seems like forever away but at least I am being seen. I have odd twinges in my lower abdomen - it doesn't hurt - like pulses that come and go - always two pulses?

How are you - how have you been feeling? Anything else symtom wise thats similar to mine? I'm worn out and fed up - Today normal bathroom - tomorrow - who knows? )0: Karen

Oh yeah...also...I do not have that weird feeling in my stomach but dont freak out because I think that everyone is different with this crap and their symptoms.

I too had all the abdominal and back pain. They did tests for my kidneys and it wasn't that. I also went to the gynecologist thinking the abdominal pain was "female". It was all normal. I think it's just all referred pain caused by the gastritis. I also know what you mean about the doctors. It's as though nobody really wants to help. When I told my gastro guy about the chest and neck pain he said to go to my internist and get a chest x-ray. Whatever!!! Today is pretty bad but then again I had onions this morning - my fault.

My insurance is not going to pay for my Nexium any more so I'm not really looking forward to the process of finding an alternative. Oh well.

Take care and hope you feel well soon.

Susan

oh god, I know exactly where you're coming from! I also share some of your symptoms
sore throat
constant throat clearing
mucus in spit (constantly)
burping
headache (also from time to time)
feeling tired and wore out
and anxiousness anytime I'm about to eat!

also my biggest problem is food sticking on the right side of my throat, so I'm not eating well either and I've lost lots of pounRAB already..
I'm having gastroscopy tomorrow and I hope they can strech my throat there, so It'll hopefully be a bit easier for me to eat.

I'm on Esomeprazole 20mg, but not eating it for 6 days now, cause my doc said until gastro I should stop a little for docs to do tests for h. pylori as well.
