john, Im going to make jen watch the movie.

I love this part :

jimmy and mary sining-we are just like romeo and julliet. Were happy, young and bubbling with love
jimmy- I cant wait to read the ending
mary- i can't either, but Im sure it turns out real swell. I bet romeo marries his juliet
jimmy- they have a baby
mary - and make lots of firends
jimmy and mary- thats probley the way the play ends

Im off to go watch it again.
 
I think the DVD for this movie comes out sometime in Oct. Finally! I've been waiting forever.
 
I saw the original Reefer Madness in my video store a few days ago, I was like hey cool

Okay. To get majority of the "weird", it's best to know about the original movie and why it was made. In 1930's the new drug czar to the US (Harry J. Anslinger) who also was the bestfriend to William Randolph Hearst, mission was to get ride of marijuana. After all hemp paper would cause utter devastation to Hearst's Fortune (He owns major news papers etc.) and also the fortune of some of his closest friends. ie the cigarette companys, clothing companies. Remember during this time cigarette "made you healthy." And well, cotton is king, and Nylon was just getting big. So, to save them their fortune they got their good friend to wage war on marijuana by banning it and spreading an elaborate propoganda on what would happen if you tried marijuana. Like "if you do it, it's WORSE then all drugs combined. You'll kill people. Zombies. Boggie Boggie EVIL." Then in 1936 they made a movie "Tell your children" to show children and their parents what happens to kids if they try weed... and well, it's insane. Anyone nowadays (even if you've never tried marijuana) would know it's a bunch of bologne. ha. But since the info came from the federal goverment many (most) people believed it. After all the government is their to protect.

So, the weird "that wouldn't happen" stuff is just making fun of what they said would happen... which of course really wouldn't. And marijuana remains illegal and "evil."And it probably will remain that way as long a the cigarette companies (etc.) have their power... even if it helps people who are dieing.
 
I've had the songs in my head as well... "Listen to Jesus Jimmy" keeps getting in my head and cracks me up ever single time. :lol:

Oh, I to have it taped... I will definately buy it when it comes out on DvD.

Nightcrawler21 The muscial aspect just makes the content of the movie funnier. It's definately like no other Musical I've ever seen or heard of. Definately worth checking out.

Okay, call me crazy...but noone's mentioned the brownie song...at least not lately! And I think it's awesome!!! Maybe not my #1 fave (b/c that place belongs to Mary Sunshine and Loved by Mary Lane) but its really cute and funny!!! Just thought I'd add a little opinion on that!!!
Also, I just wanted to say again how i love this movie!!! Its just so brilliant!!! And, although I am not a lesbian, and I am very happy with my boyfriend who i love very much, I LOVE KRISTEN BELL!!! She is really just so cute this whole movie...and she can really sing! And honestly, when she was in the S&M gear...I was in awe...she is a gorgeous girl!!! Okay, that's all...i think i sound creepy...but i swear i'm not!!!! oh, whatever!
 
Well I never really understood the whole true story of what Reefer madness was about. I knew it had something to do with weed but I didnt understand the whole zombie scenes, lol.
 
I actually noticed this movie on Showtime but went right passed it, I might have to check it out sometime. Im not too big on musicals but the plot sounds good
