Redundancy money, savings, means testing?

I have savings a redundancy money totalling approx 100,000. When my JB ends this year i will be means tested. It seems unfair that i have to spend a lifes earnings before i will get half decent social welfare. Apart from AVC's or buying a house, Is there any institution or
place you can put money to avoid the means tester?
