I am in my final year at Coventry university studying consumer product design.
I am redesigning a cycling shoe for a commuter/ Triathlon user group, preferably one that the user will not need to change out of and is able to walk about comfortably in.
I am in the early stages of my research and know little about the subject, I would just like a bit of user input/direction on the case.
The shoe will be for a “clipless” pedal. (what’s the best pedal for a commuter?)
One of my main queries is what’s the deal with the ridged base? Is it something a commuter or triathlon user would benefit from.
I would quite like to work around the idea of having a pair of shoes with the benefits of a ridged shoe but also finding a way to make them easy to walk around in.
The case may be that there are some like this already on the market (i havent found any but that means nothing. if so can I have a link) or there is no benefit for such a shoe, which brings me to the next question. What are the main problems with today’s clipless shoes for a commuter or triathlon runner? if any
Thank you for your time.
