If you won't check the coolant, take the car to the shop and have it checked. It is too new to be having cooling system problems, but still there is a possibility of low coolant, bad temperature sensor, bad thermostat or faulty malfunction light. It might be as simple as a loose wire. It might be as complex as a blown head gasket. When the warning light comes on, it isn't for decoration or entertainment. You need to prevent damage that will be very expensive.

So, like two months ago, out of the blue, i'm sitting in the drive through at chick fil a in my 2002 echo and the red temp. warning light starts flashing...i immediately flip out and turn the car off, and then turn it back on, and its not on anymore. It has been happening very often lately, and I don't know what to do. My fan is coming on, so my cooling fan isn't broken, and sometimes it'll stay on for 10 minutes and then go off. What does this mean?
