Red Hot Chili Peppers

No in the sense of what? You don't think they're similar?

Hey, I'll have you know this conversation actually inspired me to go back and listen to BSSM for, I think, the first time since I was in my teens. I wrote a little review based on the experience: http://www.rabroad.com/album-reviews/39510-old-bastard-reassesses-red-hot-chili-peppers-blood-sugar-sex-magik.html

I really did try to approach it with an open mind since I hadn't heard it in so long. And, no, I haven't reversed my opinion of the album but there are certain things I appreciate about it now. You might get a kick out of the review.

Yup I like them alot.
Hard to pick what their best song is as they have alot of decent ones, but I would probably pick 'Otherside' as my favourite.

Most singers stick to the backing music, and you'd be hard pressed to find a mainstream rock band today that switches up time signatures. They incorparate a wide variety of musical styles, including funk, rock, phsychedelia, punk, and pop.

i LOVE the red hot chili peppers. bssm was them at their best, they have somewhat gone downhill since then.
i love suck my kiss, give it away and soul to squeeze
not to say i dont like the newer stuff. i just think they have seen better days

(woo! first post)

Besides that one Stevie Wonder cover, everything RHCP has ever done makes me want to vomit. Sorry to make you guys cry, but I cannot bare to listen to another overplayed sing-a-long c0ck rock anthem.

I extremely like the guitarist. John Frusciante has put out 10 incredible solo albums. And I would say I really like RHCP. Between BSSM, One Hot Minute, Calif, Btw, and Self Titled...thats a pretty damn strong resume. More than 90% of other banRAB can say.

Okay, that's absolute rubbish. Even if you hated everything they produced in the last decade, Blood Sex Sugar Magik was a great, great album, and it got them out there. It was in the heyday of grunge and along came RHCP, a band that could actually carry a tune without looking like a bunch of hobos that got waylaid by a city bus.

I personally hated By The Way, but I liked Californication and Stadium Arcadium enough. At the very least, Californication could be called good. Maybe not spectacular, but certainly a worthwhile accomplishment.
