Red Hot Chili Peppers

I do not think Stadium Arcadium was poor compared to any of them. I personally think that yes Blood Sugar was better ONLY because i like that type of rock a little more, but the reason SA was how it was because as musicians there aging and calming down. Your not gona see them making another Around the World song. Also Frusciante said many times that the hardest album to date to play is SA.

I haven't even listened to Stadium Arcadium. The singles were horrible, and i just don't want the my impression of a band i used to worship to be lessened anymore than it already is. Which is a bit sad.

Suppose its feasibile but not without suspicion. I guess your love of prog rock saves you?

Well I dont use this practice as I dont feel the need to be looking for Rick Astley videos. Perhaps you are a closet fan? :shycouch: i dont blame you if you are (and thats the 'closet' bit im talking about...) + I recommend you remain 'closeted'.

see everybody always talked about songs like "Give it Away" or "Sir Psycho Sexy" but nobody ever mentions what is my favorite: "Power of Equality"

probably the best lyrics on the album, too. on that note, it's a shame kiedis isn't as good a lyricist as you'd hope, especially now that they've moved away from that rapping-funk style and into the Stadium Arcadium alterna-rock.

he has gotten better, though.

haven't listed to that album was much as the other early-on stuff. i'll have to listen to that later.

That's why I added the punk edge part. How were they not? Listen to Nothing's Shocking and tell me there isn't some punk in there. The alternative aspect is a catchall for a band that was doing something generally different than what was coming out at the time - and they definitely were that.

They really influenced the grunge that was to come...and grunge is generally described as having a punk influence. Not that I would correlate Jane's Addiction in that way, but seriously...how was their music not influenced by punk.

Gang of Four were probably just as influencial on banRAB like Korn as RHCP were if not more.

Do you know how many banRAB incorperated funk music into their sound in the late 70s and early 80s, I could name at least 10 just off the top of my head but their were many more.

The Pop Group
Gang of Four
A Certain Ratio
Cabaret Voltaire
Au Pairs
Delta 5
Eyeless in Gaza
fIREHOSE
The Reactionaries
Josef K
The Mekons

etc etc

I'll probably download the new CD, but I've already heard Dani California which is the most bland and boring RHCP song I've ever heard.

no, we live in the same town. it's a very punk / metal town. unless you happen to be french and don't hate yourself for it (in which case you either go prog or country).
