Red Hot Chili Peppers

I'm not big on their first album (I know it's my avatar, but that's mostly just for the album art). It's raw, but not as catchy and well-produced as Freaky Styley and Uplift Mofo. Plus, it's sorely missing their heart and soul on the guitar.

My RHCP Album rankings:

1. Blood Sugar Sex Magik - love every song

---

2. Freakey Styley - funktastic
3. Mother's Milk - better production and this album might be higher
4. The Uplift Mofo Party Plan - a smoother sounding version of the self-titled

---

5. One Hot Minute - all about Flea
6. Red Hot Chili Peppers - raw, lacks some of the catchy-ness of the next couple albums
7. Californication - has some classic tracks like 'Around the World' and 'Get on Top', but also demonstrates what is to follow

---

8. Stadium Arcadium - yuck! (I like maybe five songs)
9. By The Way - double yuck! (I like maybe three songs)

I had no idea RX Bandits were in Sound of Animals Fighting..

RX Bandits were amazing.

Red Hot Chilli peppers are ****ing rad, classic band thatll never get old. What I love about RHCP is that they stay true to their roots and havent completely switched up their sound like Green Day and other similar banRAB that have been around since the mid 90's

I first got into them around about Californication time. Yeah the video for the title track where its like them in a video game is cool as ****. Also I liked it then when games were simple. (although I can remeraber getting a PS1 for my 8th birthday or so and finding it incredibly difficult to figure out 'Frogger' lol). Also I have a secret to share, a few years ago when 'Snow' came out I used to have it as my alarm to wake me up in the morning lol (yes I was still into putting music on my phone at the time).

People shouldn't dismiss an album until theyve actually heard it. Personally if an album has a hell of a lot of critical acclaim I will naturally want to check it out but will also be a bit suspicious that its a load of ****. When I have ever said in the past that I think a 'most popular' album from an artist is overrated I have always gone in and actually listened to it first and gave it a chance.
But 9/10 hype is just hype at the end of the day.

I have since backtracked and discovered that the Chilis early stuff is a hell of a lot better than the later-recent stuff. 'The Uplift Mofo Party Plan' is an incredible album and I now rate it as their best.

Looks like he's getting replaced with Josh Klinghoffer from Ataxia although I've never heard of them. He supposedly played on some Beck and Butthole Surfers albums though.

Looks like Frusciante is with The Mars Volta now which should be interesting considering Thomas Pridgen also left The Mars Volta recently.

Stadium Arcadium I do not like!
Too much poppy Californication stuff, not enough everything else.

I didn't mind some of Californication but it's just not the chillies i love.

I think I must have been tuned out that year ... Last album I remeraber was By The Way, which had a good sound and feel but didn't (for me) hold up to close examination ... I mainly remeraber wishing that such a talented and prominent band would use their considerable powers for more than fluff ... but in retrospect (and I no longer have the album, or Californication about which I felt much the same way) I'd have to call it quality fluff and I would give it another listen if it fell into my lap

What do we make of John Frusciante's solo recorRAB? Occasionally interesting? Intermittent genius? Brilliant? Crap?

There a deadly band. Don't have any albums though,By the Way is my favourite song(By the Way).Everything is just right about there songs

I cant not like them, they're just too damn appealing to hate... but their more recet albums have not been their strongest to date...

Have you heard any of their earliuer albums? If you like flea's funky ass bass then i suggest you buy freaky styley if you haven't already. The red hot chili peppers have greatly influenced my life, John frusciante in particular. I'm so glad i got to see them at hyde park in June. Greatest gig ever!! Whats your favourite Chili Peppers song off of each album?

Definitely talked about less than it should be. I think navarro was a great fit with the band. Im not a big fan of any of his other stuff, but him on this album is better than any Slovac work imo.
