Recurring respiratory illness for almost a year now. What can it be?

I'm thinking the antibiotic isn't strong enough. A friend is going thru this as they did a CT scan and found some infection deep in her sinuses. So they put her on a strong antibiotic, gave her a steroid shot and an antibiotic shot.

And allergies can certainly make it worse.
