I have a rather embarassing question. I am 25 years old, male and have had a problem in the past with body odour. I have tried everything from different deodorants, after shaves and stuff. One thing suggested to me in the past was that I tend to sweat a lot so I changed jobs to one without physical exertion. I regularly shave off all hair from my body to avoid sweat or dirt from accumulating and have been applying both a roll on and spray on deodorant after showers. I do not leave my house without a shower and also rinse at least 3 times when I do. It has gotten to a point where I am buying new clothes regularly to eliminate odour coming from them. However someone has mentioned the problem to me again. I am now exploring the possibility that there may be a medical reason. Please help as this is knocking down my self esteem .

You may have a condition called Bromhidrosis. Do a search on body odor and you should find several sites that deal with odor. It becomes difficult because even though you practice excellent hygiene, people assume the odor comes from not washing and using deodorants. Nothing could be further from the truth. Often the person is not aware that he/she smells until others point it out. People anonymously leave deodorant or soap on the person's desk, etc. thinking that the person will become embarrassed and start better hygiene. It's very hurtful.

There are tablets you can try and also you may have to watch what you eat. Sometimes herbal teas can help.

Another huge problem is Bromhidrosis of the feet, where just walking into a room causes people to notice the overpowering smell.
