I need a phone for AT&T service that allows recording of phone conversations. Preferably with a dedicated button. It must record the entire conversation and not be limited to 60 second intervals etc. I would love to hear any suggestions.
I work for At&t and we don't have that ability in any of our phones, the best you can do is like I just tried with my Tilt to test your idea...I put my phone on speaker and used the phone's voice recorder and it picked it up well but there is no way to have it pick up without having it on speaker--but also like you said it has a 60 second limit because its not designed for recording calls. Sorry I couldn't help but we dont have any phones that do that.
I wanted to also mention as the person below me did, about it being legal to record conversations, if the other person isnt aware of it and there is not a warrant...it probably won't hold up in court. Obama is undoing a lot of Bush's warrant-less wiretapping, but I hardly think someone who had the authority to do warrant-less wiretapping would be asking for advice on this forum If you just want to record it for your own personal information that is one thing but as far as doing anything with it you have to be careful.
Federal law allows recording of phone calls and other electronic communications with the consent of at least one party to the call. 12 states though require consent from both parties...Regardless of the state, it is almost always illegal to record a conversation to which you are not a party, do not have consent to tape, and could not naturally overhear...Federal law and most state laws also make it illegal to disclose the contents of an illegally intercepted call or communication.
I don't know where you are located whether it be in the states or not but, i do know that there are laws for privacy on recording telephone calls. They differ depending on your location as i said. Just wanted to give you the heads up.
