recording noob

Hello everyone, im trying to record a rap to a track my buddy made for his sisters birthday. . I have a audio technica 4040mic, m audio "pre amp" (I think its called) and mac computer logic express 7 using mic with xlr connection to ch. 1 on m-box, i clicked the logic program open and dont have a clue how to record, i figured garageband out on my own but need help with this one, whats next? please help.

No idea I've never used it. Just play around with it for awhile and maybe do some searching about it. It could be your microphone.
