Record companies...do they still take people to court for illegal music downloads?

I remember hearing that the companies stopped taking individuals to court for downloading music illegally but yet at my college orientation the RA said if you get caught you will be taken to court...etc etc, but I thought I heard that individuals couldn't be taken to court anymore. Please site evidence...thanks. I DO NOT want personal opinions of the subject so don't rant about whether you should/shouldn't download music illegally.

Yes, and not only are they after the individuals who download/share, they're after server hosts as well. Recently, the largest torrent database, thepiratebay was taken to court and lost in Sweden, with the managers of the site ordered to pay millions of dollars and spend 1 year in jail.

Subpoenas are still being issued to individuals who download and share music, however unless you're a "high traffic" user, the odds of being taken to court are slim.
