I thought this would be a good thread for people to post films they recommend that others should watch.

I have a long summer ahead and I want to update my DVD collection a little bit, so any recommendations? I like the action thriller genre, also a fan of horror though that genre has gone downhill in recent years, in my opinion.

If you want horror, then [REC] is the film to get on DVD.

It's utterly magnificent & the fact that it's Spanish with subtitles does not detract from the enjoyment one bit.

The Americans did an inevitable remake (set in LA, as opposed to Madrid) called Quarantine, but it just didn't cut it whasoever.

I assume you're asking about lesser-known films.
Good horror ones I've seen recently are They, Dead End, The Orphanage - good creepy tense scary ones!
The BEST action one is Versus.
A good psychological action twister is Cypher.
