i used to read so much high school romance but i stopped because...
- cliche (bad boy; geek girl and popular boy; i'm in love with my bff... etc)
- fake (some books seem like they're just a bunch of things people THINK high school is about)
- superficial (what's with the rich girl trend?)
- the romance is too fast and unrealistic. i know teens in general are quick to obsess and crush but i hated that a girl would think a guy is hot and then say that she loved him in like two days... it's not that i don't think teens can fall in love. i just think the majority don't and that a lot of teen romance devalues love.
i wanted to get back into reading young adult but was wondering if someone could recommend some good books. i like john green (hated katherines and thought will grayson wasn't very good though) and i'm not into supernatural stories. something contemporary and romantic but not too cliche or fake would be cool.
