Recommend some adventure movies

Yeah, I'm not quite sure where to start looking for some really good ones. I like Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, that sort of thing, but not really those that involve lots of blood, excessive "action", fast cars, etc.

Any help would be appreciated. A good plot, great actors and a strong pace are pretty much what I like.
 
haha another vote here for Indy.

My other suggestion isn't really an "adventure" film, but seems as you like LOTR I think you might like Pan's Labyrinth. It's in Spanish, so be prepared for subtitles but it's very good :D
 
The Princess Bride?

A bit of a love/hate film but very funny in places.

They're animated but Princess Mononoke & Spirited Away are good adventures (there are dubbed English version on the dvRAB if you don't like subtitles).
 
Shrek cartoons are adventurous and funny. I saw Shrek 3 today.

Thanks! :D Yeah, I've seen Spirited Away (and I loved it) so I'll check out Princess Mononoke. I'll make my way through some of the others you guys listed, with the help of some Amazon reviews :p
