Recommend an 'All mountain' bike?

At the moment I've got a Specialized Stumpy FSR and an old Orange patriot 66 set up more for downhill. I'm looking for something sort of in the middle. Hard enough for a few big jumps and drops, but still peddleable - albeit with a bit more effort. 150 - 170mm travel. I'm fed up with having 2 muddy bikes in my pokey flat.

I've checked the reviews and asked on mtb forums etc. but wondered if anyone here has some personal recommendations as you may have lived with a certain bike for a while.

I'm looking to spend £2000 - £3000
 
The cure for two muddy bikes would be to clean them.

I have a 2007 Gary Fisher HiFi. I quite like it although my skills are still somewhat lacking.
