If you want a funny yet sad movie watch The Bucket List.

Jack Nicholson is hilarious in it but as a whole the movie is really sad.

100% agree with you PANNAL1, an absolutely brilliant film.

Others I'd recommend are:

Little Miss Sunshine - excellent ending

Walk The Line - even if you're not a Johnny Cash buff, the singing is superb by the 2 leaRAB

The Break Up - great chick flick

Signs- still makes me jump in places

Grease - of course!

The Mist, adapted and directed by Frank Darabont (Shawshank, Green Mile) from Stephen King's short story. Great old fashioned horror movie with some really dramatic scenes and nicely acted by all. An absolute gobsmacker of an end too!
