Has anyone recommended House of Wax - the recent one.

You can watch it for the scares or just for Ms Cuthbert running around in her (imsmr) most fetching grey t-shirt :)

I've seen that a few times incuding when it was released on video before it quickly got banned and to this day I just dont get what people see in the film.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone - I may have to join Lovefilm to get through them all!

I will check them out as they seem quite good. I noticed they haven't been released on blu ray over here yet :(

Predators does look brilliant. I must watch the original Predator movies first though! I've seen Aliens Vs Predator which was ok but I'm sure the original is much better. I'm also hoping that they get a move on with Alien 5!

Thanks for the extensive list! I've seen a few of them. Didn't really think much of Saw, The Last House on the Left or Paranormal Activity but will check the others out!

Thanks again!

hmmm. 1 - great, 2 - surprisingly good, for a DirectToDVD
3 - hmmmm, not so good.

My suggestion - work your way through the whole F13 series - by skip the reboot/reinvission disaster.

Tremors is brilliant, but lighthearted, but is sci-fi/horror.

The original Black Christmas is great too.

Christine and The Shining are brilliant adaptations of great books.

I watched the American version of The Strangers (I am pretty sure this a re-make of the a french film by the same name I have just never seen it) and I found it quite unsettling. There was something about these 3 people who couldn't see invading these peoples privacy but not actually doing anything to provoke a reaction - the reaction was justified but you couldn't really say why.

Take a hot bath, eat some prunes and drink some strong coffee - anything to remove all trace of the travesty that was the 2009 movie from your mind + body.

Then immerse yourself in the complete run of the originals - upto and including FvJ.

Admittedly there are a couple of hmmms in there, but to skip any inbetweeners would (I think) mean missing out on the whole Jason experience. - avoid all spoilers though.

One thing I loved about the series was the gore never reach the "shield my eyes" level, yes it was graphic, but never prolonged and torturous like a Saw and its bone twistings or acid arm dissolvings. (yes, I'm a big wuss)

BTW if you try Wrong Turn 1 and think :D, then methinks you'll be impressed with No2. Just give it ~7mins, or at least until the first kill. That was all it took for me to know they were on to a winner. - I'll say no more. :D
But No3 - yuck.
