Hi I thought that and I did ask him again,he said no,there is some twisting when you need to wipe the ole fanny, that is acceptable.he said can squat to pick up things using the legs.He is Dr. steven reisch from new Brunswick, has a video performing an actual back fusion from Robert Wood Hospital

It depenRAB so much on your doctor. I have one that is a strictly "by the books" guy. My current one would agree with what your surgeon told you. It makes it difficult to know who you should believe.

I have decided that I will be on the safe side and will avoid bending as much as I can and pay attention to use good body mechanics. I will avoid twisting as I do see where it could be harmful.

It sounRAB like your surgeon was talking about doing anything you want AFTER you are fused, not just 8 weeks after surgery. Don't you think that's what he meant??

Thank you. I will take a look as soon as I can stand sitting in a car. Can't tolerate it for more than 10 minutes. I have always said back problems are exquisite agony. Alamo36

Thanks Rab..........

That sure sounRAB like quite a chair....Have to look for that one....Glad to hear it gets better and better..........

Many thanks..

That's so funny --but, how does it fit you? How do you feel in it? I was wondering what to do next. I put a twin bed in the den, but am about to outgrow it. When I have it moved out, I want to get a new chair, but didn't know if a recliner would be comfy for me, or not.

Thank you all so much..I plan on renting one...I'm staying at my parents and just wanted to be sure before I confirmed the order..

MANY THANKS........;)

don't think its a good idea to use heat and massage after a fusion, first thing you got metal in there and the heat from paRAB etc may make problem worse or create infections.

Well............Funny story......I was able to get the chair to recline..It was super comfortable but couldn't reach the handle to set it back in a seated position..You really need to use your legs and I personally think you put more strain on your back which isn't a great idea...Back to the uncomfortable upright chair I guess.....Well at least I got a comfy chair for my Dad.........

Could you attach something to make the handle longer? Then you could recline in it.

Otherwise, I'm sure your dad appreciates it.

Don't plan to get the one with the heat or the massager..Just a simple recliner...to be able to lay back to watch tv...The upright chair is SO uncomfortable.....

hi guys!

The day I found out about my Spondy and my needed fusion, my hubby bought me a LaZBoy recliner. In the two years since my first surgery, I cannot get comfy in it.

My problem with it is that the back doesn't ever lay completely flat, parallel to the ground. It always has my waist bent at an angle. Therefore, I spend most of my time in bed.

I would love to spend more time down stairs. Are all LaZBoys like that? Do some of yours lay flat?

Hope everyone is doing well, and Happy Mother's Day!

Stephanie
