I have a 9200 reciever that the output connector for the HD stopped working. I have tried a new HDMI cable but still get a black screen. So for now I am using the YPbPr connections. I called BEV CS and was told that rather than pay for repairs or a new reciever was to pay a $6 a month fee for a "free replacement" agreement and they would send me a brand new reciever. He went on to say that I might not have to send back my old faulty reciever because I own it. Does anyone know if this is so. Therefore I would have two 9200 recievers that both work just that one of them has faulty HDMI.(can still use YPbPr). The agreement can be cancelled after one year. Am I missing something here? What should I do?

The receiver has a one year warranty. EV requires a two year contract. How open to abuse is that? :o It is $150 for a 9200 refurb and/or $6/mo for an extended warranty contact. Now that the receiver is reported as defective, the extended contract may not apply. The 9200 has a number of reported issues with the HDMI port. They may be hardware or software related. I would press EV for a free replacement. If EV will not provide a suitable solution, It may be worthwhile to cancel EV and consider an alternative, such as Rogers' "ditch the dish." Wait for a call from EV with a better offer in the meantime.

BTW - They always want the old one back unless you pay full price for a new one. Failure to reqturn it will result in additional charges.

The penalty if you cancel before the end of the first year is 35$...you have 2 weeks to cancel with no penalty when you suscribe. Extended warranty only takes effect 21 days after you suscribed to it and any pre-existing damage or problem reported prior to the insurance will not be covered

Price for a refurbish unit is 149$ + 12$ shipping&handling. Defective unit needs to be shipped back or there would be, as p
