hate to start a new thread

I rent 3 4100's

all 3 are not receiving channels 206,216,230,409,415,523,558,604,606,609,615,616,620,628,330,635,639,698,712 due to signal strength or ??

most of the channels are from transponder 14 ,2,6 and 30

when I fool around checking the signal strength for various other transponders they range from high 60's to low 90's .

also , when I clik on ''check switch'' it tells me I dont have a switch .I thought because I had 3 receivers I had a switch installed but thats going beyond my scope of knowledge as I'm really not tech savvy nor a handyman

bev wants to send a tech for 75 bucks but my past experience with their install team leaves much for desire --I'll probably call a guy from an electronic store here in timmins and ask to send his install jockey to have a look but was wondering if anyone else can chime in with any ideas with what it could be .

check to see if all even transponders are missing
could be one of many things
you probably have a 2 or 3x4 switch installed (same thing)
can you see what brand it is?
i've had a few friends have Omega brand die on them
or it could be the LNB.....
check the connectors if possible, and look to see if there is anything touching the copper center pin, and make sure they are clean, and not green or black (the copper)

Just to clarify, the "Check Switch" that you read so much about will only detect a switch that combines signals from 82 & 91 degrees, it does not see a switch used for multiple receivers on one sat.....

Otherwise there was some good advice from "I Hate TV's"

I have TV gives a good answer...most probably a multi-switch problem or LNBF problem

When you do the checkswitch and you see the result what do you see under the transponder section? Do you see both odd and even or odd and a X?

when I do a switch check the results =

port 1 1 2 2

satellite 91 91 x x

transponder odd even x x

status - no switch box detected (in red)

switch installed switch model unknown

just checked signla strength on all transponders for satt 91

they read anywhere from high 50's to 90 's yet transponder 6 , 14 read at 0 which corresponds with the channels that are not working for me

when I check signal strength for transponders for sat 82 it tells me ''wrong sat - 91 '' in red yet the signal strength is showing strong

is it possible the lnb is out of alignment since the system is saying that what should be pointing to 82 is actually pointed at 91 ?

:(

You should be pointing at SAT91 since you receivers are 4100. Unless you get HD receivers, or international programming you don't have SAT82.

If you are installed for less than 3 months call us it's probably a LNBF problem, it will be covered. Same if you have dish care. If not you will need to have the piece replaced for 89$ + tech fee 75$ (not 100% sure about the cost of the piece)

thanks agent express

so , I still have to pay for whatever part even if I'm on the rental program ?

We now have a new dish care plan which is covering for the equipement and the technician...this is a trial plan and is only available in Ontario.

Ask if you are eligible for it, but make sure you don't mention the problem on the call, otherwise you won't be covered. If you are renting I belive the piece will be covered, but you still have to pay the tech.
