Recent development of shin splints.. how do u manage/get rid of them?

I have recently developed shin splints in my right leg (within the last week)
over the past 4 months i have started to increase my running from 20km per week to 45km per week..

i have been running 45km per week for almost thee weeks now but have only developed the shin splints now!

i was wondering why i developed them now and not sooner and also what can i do about them? i don't want to stop running as i love it but it is becoming more and more painful.

my running schedule is:
mon: 5km plus weights and core work
tues:9km
wed:5km plus weights and core work
thurs:9km
fri:5km plus weights are core work
sat:9
