I recently graduated from a four year university with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. It's only been about a month since I've walked and said goodbye to my school but I find myself very unsatisfied with my degree. My goal was to use my Biology degree and apply to graduate school for either nursing or pharmacy, however I feel very unsure and not very passionate about pursuing a career in healthcare. Actually at this point, I feel very uncertain about my future with my biology degree. I didn't take advantage of the opportunities provided by my school as an undergrad so I don't have any research experience and it's so hard to find an entry-level position in the biotech field right now.
So my dilemma is two parted: part 1. I took an accounting class as an undergrad and I loved it! I did very well and I think I would enjoy doing accounting.. but I don't know if I'm just jumping the gun because I'm going through some post-graduate blues or if this is really something I want to do! The more I think about a career in business, the more I think I really want to do it!
part 2: If I were to pursue accounting, should I go for a second bachelors for accounting [which will take me 2 years to finish] or go for a masters in accounting [I would need to take the prereqs which would take me a year to year in a half]? Because in the long run I want to obtain my CPA license.
I'm leaning more towards the second bachelors because I want to have a solid background in business and I feel like my school would offer me a lot of opportunities to have internships as I go along in my studies. Also, on a personal note, I feel like I learned from my first bachelors and I WANT to work hard and take advantage of what my school has to offer. I would love to have a masters but I don't feel like I could get in with my grades from my bachelors [cgpa 3.2 with not too much experience or extra curriculars] and I don't think by taking the pre-reqs would offer much insight or opportunities for internships since I need to take only four accounting classes.
I don't know, I'm very confused. Sorry this is such a long post, I would love to hear some advice from accountants, counselors, anyone with some life experience to offer. Thank you so much
