I don't have much info. It is based on an Italian comic book series of the same name. It appears to be pretty much a Winx Club clone. The tv show is due out this fall on Italia 1. Production is supposed to by by Stranemani (an Italian studio that was involved in the Corto Maltese series 10 years ago and currently does some work on Huntik).

A lot more Japanese cartoons have been shown on Italian TV since the 70s then in America, so a good amount of the people making cartoons in Italy now would have grown up on them.
