This concerns particularly those with 3G iPhones and iPod Touch 3G.

Windows Vista and Seven.

Right click on RecBoot.exe Develop fitness for XP SP3 in the property and run as administrator.

iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 3G

Windows: go to the menu and then Start the Run. Go to C: \ Windows \ System32 \ drivers \ etc \ hosts For Mac: / etc / hosts You must modify the hosts file with notepad. On the last line, add: or 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com Save and close the file. Connect your iDevice iTunes. Switching to DFU mode Restore an old firmware. SHIFT + RESTORE (ALT + RESTORE Mac user) and give him the firmware. Wait error 1015 or other ... Launch RecBoot.exe

The goal is to force the installation of the firmware you are trying to restore, testing or if you have a 16xx error when restoring a custom firmware.

Just in case anyone is having any permission issues in Win7 or Vista:

Type cmd in the Start Menu search box. When the cmd file pops up above that, right click and run as Administrator

On command line type:
takeown /f C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts (This will let you take ownership of the file)

Next for permission:
cacls C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts /G USERNAME:F (USERNAME=Your user name)

You can use these commands to change ownership and permission of any file or folder in your system folders since you are not aloud to change even as admin)
