I saw it at Cineworld (although it was in a ridiculously small screen, on the positive side though the seats were better than the regular screens and we could go to a bar if we wanted an alcoholic drink :D), so it's definitely not just on at Odeons.
 
Right I've just watched it and even though it's better than Cloverfield & Diary of the dead it's still not scary, very good but not scary. It's just a pity Blair witch came out or this would of been the benchmark

Because it was supposed to be being filmed by a professional cameraman for a TV show.
Not a bad film - basically 28 Days Later meets The Blair Witch with a side order of The Evil Dead towarRAB the end.
Being an amalgamation it also felt strangely like an adaptation of a Japanese survival horror videogame to me.

Really enjoyed this, simple premise rather intense and claustrophobic, 2008 seems to be a good year for horror already with this film as well as the Orphanage. Have been ble to see WAZ (or W delta z) yet. The remake ("Quarantine") looks rather overblown though
 
I've seen this over the weekend. While there's absolutely nothing original about the movie (it borrowed elements from "Blair Witch Project", "28 Days Later" & others), it was still fantastic. I enjoyed it a lot.

My only complaint is that it wasn't scary... at all. But it had great tension and atmosphere. And it actually felt like you were watching an actual incident instead of a fictional movie. Nicely done. Reading the subtitles wasn't bothersome at all either. :)

I'm very much looking forward to the Hollywood remake. Judging from the trailer, it looks like it might be as good (or maybe even a little better) than the Spanish version but we'll have to wait and see. It could end up being a disaster. As you can see, remakes doesn't bother me at all. You've got good ones and bad ones. Some are better than the original. Some are worse. The bottomline is that no one is forcing anyone to watch it. So it's pointless to be upset about it. :)
 
I truly think it was one of the scariest films I've seen at the cinema, and not just because it makes you jump. There was a horrible, hopeless atmosphere and the last 20 minutes were just relentless and grim. So many terrifying moments I thought, and horror films rarely have that impact. I love how it was so so vague for ages too and it only truly became clear near the end what was happening. Those last 20 minutes made you realize how depressing the situation was.

being stuck in that room with nowhere to go when they were meant to be downstairs (but of course that was impossible) then the light going out, it dragged on and on and became increasingly unbearable, and that THING scared the crap out of me, again because it was so vague really, but you saw and heard enough to know it was bad enough and it didn't appear for ages. Reminded me of Cloverfield in that sense, in that you caught only enough glimpses to form a basic impression. You truly felt the characters' terror, it's exactly how I imagine it would unfold in real life. The "zombies" were scary, especially when they looked over the banister at the end, but that gangly tall thing was horrifying.

By the way, were there two "zombies" in that last room? Because when they opened the attic door I'm sure it looked like a little boy up there, then that girl was on the floor of course, or were they the same thing?

Anyway this film surprised me so much, I'd recommend it to anyone if you can stand the wobbly camera which got really bad in places. You'd also forget its in Spanish if not for the speed of the text at times.

The only two "bad" points was the fact the lead girl was utterly f*cking irritating (which normally means I'd be happy if they died, but because of the situation of the film I didn't want ANYONE to in a way - I'm not saying she does die, or stay alive, by the way) and wouldn't shut the f*ck up in annoying moments. And:

The big fat old lady in the big old pink dress, lol! The whole cinema kept cracking up at her, I'm sure it was meant to be terrifying, but anyway..)

Otherwise a perfect horror film!

It definately looked like a boy when you saw it up in the attic but then (I think) you heard the thud noise like it was coming down where it appeared as the girl one. Unless she was up there too or something.

A boy was never mentioned was it? Actually when Angela was looking through the papers did a photo of a boy fall out or am I just making that up:o

Looking here it looks like a boy.



Either way it bloody scared me.

And the old wiman in the pink dress made me laugh too:D
