Rebirth of the Rebellion - Code Geass R2 Talkback (SPOILERS)

Thanks, though I think the 11 parody was better. I rather wonder if parodying what's practically a self-parody is rather redundant, but I had some fun skewering this one.

I want Cecile to end up with an item of clothing that wasn't painfully designed to show off her chest. She and Sumeragi must shop at the same place.

Its what happens in war, people die. Lots of people, and they die in pointless deaths where many died without knowing what hit them. Emotional death scenes only happen in fiction.

Red makes you go....oh, you get the point by now.

I must say though, I'm buying the model of this version of the Guren.

Yes, I also still like Geass myself, it's just that there are big bugbears that have needlessly been added to some parts of the series and something that we don't want to spillover and dilute the main plot and cause the storyline to stagnate or continue to be prominent and out of control.

For a lot of us that are continuing to watch the show and be critical about it well... We criticise because we care.

I only just noticed this over the weekend. There was something of a small hint that Charles, Marianne, and V.V. were in it together in the second OP all along...see the top right of this cropped shot.

It's only there for a split second at the start between Lelouch activating Geass and the face montage. Subtle Sunrise, subtle...jerks!

Finally watched the episode. Man that was absolutely intense. I must painfully admit that I had a slight degree of sympathy to V.V. dying, if only so slight. That said I can't wait to see how they handle C.C.'s loss of memory. It seems far too late in the game to handle this properly, and given that she's now more a waifish maiden than a snide temptress, this leaves her susceptible to naive ecchi fanservice scenes (especially given that for some reason she's in the nude for some parts of the episode, and of course the next episode preview). However I'm not going to put much thought into and let the next few episodes surprise me like this episode did.

A casual speculation of mine includes the escape of Kallen because of the folly of the Knight Round getting angry as seen in the preview, which may further the likelihood that while an elite group of special Knightmare Frame pilots the Knight of RounRAB are all pillocks compared to one Kallen. But for right now, I'm looking forward to seeing the eventual fate of Ohgi and Villetta and the little heart to heart Lelouch may have with Cornelia.

You know, that parody was superior to the actual episode. Which is a good thing for you, GWOtaku, but not for Sunrise....

Guess I'd better go back and read the others then.

Btw...nah, forget it.

Believing somebody is hot is not disrespectful, it's the way their sexuality in the matter is portrayed that makes it unfavorable.
The only thing I find slightly disturbing is the image of Kallen on the table and CC's um, panty shot thing. I'm not trying to argue that Geass is a show that bases it's female characters only off of their big boobs and behinRAB, it's just that I don't like it or support it considering I'm a straight female who feels Kallen still hasn't gotten anything better than fanboy bait [you can include CC in here too]- just the same as the guys of this thread would hate to see constant scenes of Lulu and Suzaku *cough*bastard*cough* naked in the shower.

To change the subject here, I really love the relationship between Xingke and the empress. It's so cute and gentle. He seems like such a nice guy. *adorns her Xingke wear* Xing Xing he's our man! if he can't do it, Lulu can! But srsly I'm still rooting for him and his empress. *has his back* Xingke is like an honorable medium between two fighting idiots.

Also, hes content for the rest of the empire to be oppressed as long as Japan is safe under his rule. That doesn't change the fact that he will be a tyrant and Japan will still not be free. And what happens when he dies? Japan could get an oppressive ruler again. And what about Nunally, he'll use even her out too?

At least, lulu didn't assassinate Suzaku when diehard suggested it. Lulu is still loyal to his frienRAB. I can see hating lulu for euphie but what about Nunally, what the @#$ did she do to him.

And now Suzaku is willing to kill as many rebelling Japanese as he has to so he can become their tyrant. Oh, how I want this traitor's death to be slow and painful. It would be like an American in the Reveloution fighting against the colonies so he could become ruler of the colonies. What a @#$%^%!

Ahh, and the Sunrise Troll continues it's deadly path of deadliness. I've obviously given up on taking the series clearly (that happened last season anyway), so now I'm just watching it til the end. It's like a trainwreck. I want to look away, but I can't.

Say byebye to LelouchxKallen. Calling her dying or her and Gino ending up as a pair with Lelouch dying with a smile on his face. (The director did hint I believe at Lelouch ending up "happy" so I dunno.) Toudou still hasn't died yet, so I suspect he'll be falling soon too. I think Lelouch does care for her as he continues to push her away, but we all know he's not exactly smart when it comes to the women. Things won't end well. Death flag, hoo!

As far as the rest goes... Nunally at the end, what a twist! Not really. I didn't think she "died" anyway. She didn't seem to be on the same ship, but we won't go there. Who cares. ._. Something hilarious about a "blind" girl declaring her brother and Suzaku the enemy though. Too good. All and all.. just another week of Geass. Can't wait for more absurdities next week.

The heart of a Japanese....see, there are two ways to take that. One is a rather positive message of acceptance. The other is a rather insulting "You can't do anything good unless you're Japanese", basically a hypocrisy on how the show bemoans Britannia overwriting other's cultures.

Eh, I can't really tell on that small youtube video...

Here's a video with both the OP and ED. The ED is all right, the highlight is the artwork which is very distinctly CLAMP's style this time.

Anyone who reaRAB this thread knows that I tend to defend Geass even in some of the less popular areas. I really enjoy the serious episodes and think those are pretty well done for the most part, though I have my nitpicks here and there.

It's the comedic/fanservice elements that really get to me. Normally a little fanservice won't bother me (though I'm hardly thrilled with it), but random C.C. talking strategy with Lelouch in her underwear? Please. And then the last Ashford episode was just ridiculous, though it did have redeeming moments (funny, they mostly seemed to be the serious moments). I like the Ashford crew and I liked the Ashford episodes of season 1. Hell, I even liked the last Ashford episode for the most part. But when it does ridiculous things like the last one pulled, it really makes me groan.

Geass has a lot of potential and overall, R2 has been falling short lately. Hopefully this is the last Ashford episode and we can get back to some serious stuff--which I really think is Geass' strength and more so this season--with the upcoming episodes.

Finally got a chance to watch the episode earlier today. To be honest, in some sense I kindof liked it a lot. Granted like the previous episode there was a wave of plot and story elements rushing forward but at least it mostly tried to keep itself focused on the main conflict at hand. The revelations of Charles and Marianne were done well and in some sense surprising in terms of relatively good execution. Personally, I'm reserving judgment until the end of the series whether this was a good idea, but right now it seems alright.

Like what many people said Charles' juxtaposition with Lelouch in his desire to create a world free of strife and lies was interesting, albeit flawed due to his selfish desire. Thankfully Lelouch transcended that and gave them a farewell parting that is equal parts dramatic and super special awesome. The ending was quite enjoyable, most definitely the highest point was the regal happy music playing which gave way to terror as Lelouch sauntered his way to the throne. How he will turn out will be up to debate in the next episodes.

Where was Anya btw after she regained consciousness? She wasn't with the Knights of Round who were disenchanted with Lelouch's appearance in the Royal Palace nor was she with Schneizel? A potential avenue for Marianne to come back perhaps? Who knows.

Also I must say I'm not sure who I dislike even more after revealing their true selves, Charles or Marianne? Charles was a ****** don't get me wrong, but seeing Marianne be like that was... to some extent even worse. Maybe that was because we were expecting something more... good out of her, but in turn what a terrible mother she appears to be. Lelouch telling them off because they never saw Nunally's smile was also pretty poignant.

With that I leave a final note in regarRAB to the previous discussion about the director's lamentations that Season 2's start didn't go as expected. If it did... Would Marianne's character had changed? The way they were going for it throughout the series was that Marianne seemed to be an amazing, talented, wonderful human being who'd give her life for her daughter. If the so-called series had not shifted as it did according to the interview... would her appearance have been that way? (give or take the nature of the interview perhaps, correct me if I'm wrong).

All in all, a good episode that served to create a new status quo that may resolve itself (ideally) in the next four episodes.

8/10
