Rebirth of the Rebellion - Code Geass R2 Talkback (SPOILERS)

I meant that Britannia was more apt to claim some sense of racial superiority than the Galactic Empire. As such, they play 'The Race Card'. I did not see that kind of claim made by the Galactic Empire, no "Empiricists" or whatever, no sense of overwhelming racial superiority. As such, they did not play 'The Race Card' in that regard, in propagating their rule and/or ideology.

THAT was what I meant. It never meant that racism should not be discussed.

Okay, I finally watched the episode. While fun at times, it was both unnecessary and improper. Mostly improper however because it feels like a very forced sendoff of Milly from the show. It was if they were sending a character with a lot of potential (and a lot of fun as she at least had some facets of a potentially deeper multidimensional character) into obscurity haphazardly, and in the most uncreative way of all. If this was the last episode involving her in some major role, I can't help but feel that her presence in the series was rather superfluous because of this episode.

However there were some nice touches:

-Suzaku getting a little bit more respect from Guilford. He's come a long way and I kindof like the "win the respect of your colleagues" arc.
-Nunally visiting Kallen.
-The seiyuu for Shirley during the night scene captured her frustration convincingly and downpat.
-Cornelia's return.
-Knight of One and the Royal Family discussing strategic matters. (although another damn psychotic redhaired girl =/)

And that's pretty much it really. Let's get back to the story before I lose my mind. I also recant what I said about this episode not being a 'bust'. It is a 'bust', cup size A: underwhelming, undeveloped, and unneeded.

From now on, I'm thinking of rating episodes based on bust size.

Hm, I need to not read comments before watching the episode because I was expecting a train wreck and I ended up enjoying it. I was really surprised how quickly it ended, and not in a rushed sense; there was just a lot going on and I wanted to see more. So I guess I disagree that the "magic" of Geass is gone. I still look forward to seeing how things are going to play out. For all the flaws R2 has had, I don't think it's nearly as bad as people are making it out to be. The ending will definitely have a large impact on my overall view of the series, but 23 episodes in, I've enjoyed the vast majority of it. Two episodes to go and a lot of ground left to cover, but I'm optimistic (I seem to be in the minority there, but that's nothing new ).

On the topic of who to root for, I'm definitely rooting for Lelouch here. The way he was shaking when talking to Nunnally and his conversation with C.C. really sold me. There have been times I've been anti-Lelouch for various reasons, but now isn't one.

And speaking of the conversation between C.C. and Lelouch... I'm hardly a shipper of that pairing, but I liked that scene a lot. It worked really well in context to me.

Cornelia being taken out definitely came out of nowhere to the point that I'm not sure I buy that she's dead... but with only two episodes to go, her still being alive seems odd. Buut~ she's such a great character that she deserves better >.>

I loved how the battle between Lelouch and Schneizel played out. Watching them attempt to outmaneuver each other in a life-sized chess match was really fun.

I guess I'd say I'm apathetic toward Viletta's pregnancy as I really don't mind it. It's pretty soap-opera-y, but at the same time, it's a new life that will be born into the world of whoever is victorious in the end, so it can work in that respect.

As for Nunnally... I was annoyed with her for awhile, but knowing that Schneizel lied to her about the people of Pendragon being evacuated just makes me pity her. She's in a bad situation no matter where she stanRAB. I just hope by the end she comes back to Lelouch and Suzaku, since those are the two people that care about her the most and vice versa.

And if Nina could do something useful before the end, I might find myself not hating her quite as much. That doesn't say much, but it's still something, right?

I'm still looking forward to seeing where this goes. I'm still emotionally invested in the outcome and all that, so yeah. I'll just sit here and wave my pro-Geass flag.

Exactly. Suzaku always wanted to fight on the front lines because of the belief that he would eventually be killed.

It's one thing to hold onto the feelings of remorse he felt for Euphie, but it is another to use them as an excuse to blame every little thing on Lelouch. He hasn't even tried to forgive him, because I think that if he actually made an attempt to Lelouch would not automatically turn him down. He hides behind her death as a way to constantly make himself angry at the world. I don't know what he's trying to change anymore, because by watching him it's obvious he is making no progress. I think I mentioned this before, but if Euphie saw him now she would not be pleased. If anything you would think such an arabitious person as Suzaku appeared to be would use her death as a more inspiring, 'I'm going to do this the right way, for her!' cause. Not using her demise as a way to see the world in an evil light. You can't stay pissed off at the world forever. Lelouch has never been subtle in getting what he wants- just look at what he did in the last episode. But those factory workers weren't oblivious to what they were researching. Suzaku on the other hand flipflops around, using Euphies death as a shield. Eventually it's time to move forward and beyond that.

Before I forget, I saw what actually aired, and can give some details.

Regarding Episode 9:

- Lelouche and the rest arrive in China.
- There is a marriage proposal that is worrying the group. (Couldn't quite grasp what the dialogue said here.)
- Apparently the Emperor of China is with Britannia

As for Episode 10:

- Karen/Kallen VS. Kazuki in China. (?!)

I can't remeraber much mof what was shown in the Episode 10 preview, so hopefully that'll be good enough for now.

my only worry is, will they have enough time to figure it all out? We already have some spoilers for the next coming episodes, and that leaves the last 5 or so in the dark. How much can they really do? I mean, I'm sure there will be proper developments where needed, but to get a nice firm end on the series they're going to have to REALLY speed up the process. With the spoiler for next episode, that creates a whole NEW set of problems. Maybe I'm just worried because there's things I would like to see yet might not be able to.

He really does! Those are some damn snazzy outfits they got- I seriously love them. Lelouch could also use an oversized furr coat with knee high leather boots and pink fuzzy wide-brimmed hat to match. Oh yes, and a pimp cane. With a giant diamond on the top part. Suzaku can be his swanky hooker.

Ugh. Guys. This is what I'm talking about. There is no way the episode is out yet. Just wait a few hours.

Spoilers? Must...click....

KALLEN: It's all right now, GWOtaku! You can come over here and read those spoilers!

Hmm...

So I finally watched the episode and I'm definitely intrigued. It wasn't as intense as the last few, but it was an episode that had to happen eventually. Lelouch using the glass to cast his Geass was pure awesome.

And I admit, as much as I love Suzaku, I sympathize with Kallen in smacking Suzaku. He needed it. I didn't think he'd go through with the Refrain, and he didn't, not wanting to drop to Lelouch's level. I'm glad that part of his character is remaining consistent. And now he's ready to confront Lelouch, which is going to make 17 interesting.

Speaking of that inevitable confrontation, I have to wonder if the Emperor's comment about Lelouch not being able to show himself to Suzaku and Nunnally will spur him on to want to meet Suzaku.

As for Nunnally, good for her for standing her ground to Miss Romeyer. She really does care about the Elevens and means to see her duties through. I'm proud of her. And with her conversation with Suzaku, it seems that she's starting to figure some things out. Now I wonder how much she'll figure out on her own.

C.C.'s past was a sad thing, with her wanting to be loved and then not being able to tell the difference. And the one person she trusted turned on her in the end. Ouch. Lelouch promising to make her smile was sweet, too. I like when he acts like a decent human being.

And C.C.'s memory loss at the end was a definite WTF moment. It seems a bit late in the series for something like that to happen, so I can only hope it is resolved in a decent manner before the end. It's just not going to seem right for her to be so out of character. I hope it doesn't last too long, anyway.
