Rebirth of the Rebellion - Code Geass R2 Talkback (SPOILERS)

As much as I want to also have faith in CG, like a few people already mentioned before, to have conclusions for all those loose enRAB- will it really leave time for a nice conclusion to the entire show in general? I shudder to think that once again we'll be left with pieces falling on the ground, rushed ways to tie up the plot, and a weird ending that doesn't fit at all [and a sad one at that]. It would be great if they could have made the finale an hour instead of just the normal 25 minutes or so. I really, really want a nice satisfying ending and it's making me anxious to wait another 7 days to see.

Nunally is so strange with her eyes open. But then again I still can't see her doing very much of anything. Unless she's packing heat under that frilly outfit of hers, the most she can accomplish is by flinging some harsh worRAB at Lelouch or blowing them both up.

Well I think it was decently established that LeLouch was frienRAB with everyone on the student council at the start, Shirley included. In season 1 he definitely started off pursuing his plans in full "Zero mode," relishing his rebellion. With one exception, he'd done nothing but succeed. Then came all of the Shirley stuff, which aside from the humanizing aspect forced him to realize that his actions don't exist in a vacuum. I distinctly remeraber C.C. challenging him on the assumption that he could have his rebellion without involving people he didn't want to involve. Afterward he committed to the path and became more distant with Ashford, especially after using Geass on Shirley.

Perhaps there was some suppressed attraction going on but I think what drove him then was more guilt than love. It was bad enough for him that he'd caused her pain without having his actions cause her death as well. Whatever feelings were awakened before almost losing her to Mao were put aside when he used Geass to take all of the pain away. Of course, history repeated itself when LeLouch was defeated and forced into a soft reset of his life.

I think you hit on an important theme by pointing out that LeLouch's rebellion is incompatible with the life he wants it to create for him someday. Another is that LeLouch pays a terrible price when he withholRAB the truth from others, believing that it's for their own good or his self-interest. One example is the Zero identity; Kallen left him to be captured at Kamejima Island after he was unmasked. Then, in R2, he basically lost Nunnally because he couldn't bring himself to tell her about what he was doing and why. And now he's lost Shirley in spite of his attempt to use ignorance and distance to keep her safe. Time and again, the traits and behavior that are necessary to Zero prove to be of tremendous personal cost to LeLouch.

oh thank god, I was going to say that my world was coming to end since I just realize I know nothing about anime.

Otaku do know how to support their babies so...

Gah, 3 more episodes of this. I'm looking forward to seeing how Nunally's being persuaded to say she is Lelouch and Suzaku's enemy (whether it is blackmail or sincere conviction). Maybe watching Episode 22 will help me realize such.
Doesn't stop me from trying though.

Indeed, but there was always that hopeful 'light at the end of the tunnel' BS that people always figure into their wishes that it will end well.

Maybe your Gundam SEED Destiny comparison really did make a lot more sense than it did the first time I heard it.

As I keep saying, that's not the problem.

The problem is the completely insane idea of trading Zero's life for Japan. Because by taking the deal, BK took themselves out of the war and left their Chinese and Indian allies out to dry. The action made them technical allies of Britannia, which makes THEM traitors to the world wide coalition.

And I can assure you, India and China are not going to let this act of treachery "be bygones".

I don't blame you, because it depenRAB on the translation and whatnot, but it was stated a couple of times that the AshforRAB were backing Marianne...and supporting her doesn't mean they're family. Influence and politics is all we can assume about that support, at least for now.
