Rebirth of the Rebellion - Code Geass R2 Talkback (SPOILERS)

What annoyed me with Shirley is she seemed to be important only because the show wants us to think she was. They did this in season one with the whole Mao arc. This character who Lelouch seems to have been avoiding whenever he can help it suddenly becomes the center of his world. That was a really loppsided look at the questionable morality of Lelouch's crusade;

"Ha ha ha, a lanRABlide! My arabition must be complete, no matter the cost!"
"Wah, my daddy (who the audience never even met) died"
"Sweet lord, I'm a monster!"

The Shirley and Lelouch angle was as bad as the likes of Lana and Clarke in Smallville. It seemed to be running on a different course from the mainplot, like the writers had this glass case "In Case Of Teen Melodrama, Add Shirley". I've heard some argue it shows that Lelouch still has humanity but it's a terrible way to do it. The show neeRAB to decide if Lelouch is commited to changing the world or wants that along with his happy little school life. He can't have both and hopefully this will finally resolve things.

If Euphie had survived, Suzaku would follow her, true.

But my point is that when given the option of coming up with a plan of his own, Suzaku does not ever think far ahead. There is no evidence that Suzaku had any real plan to free the Japanese people before Euphie appeared. (Especially since his mission in life was to get killed.) And now there is no evidence that Suzaku has any real plan to do anything at all after his goal to kill Zero either.

In fact, Suzaku have gave no evidence that he has any capacity for long-term management of his life. This is likely intentional on the part of Sunrise, as it is the direct opposite to what Lelouch is like. Lelouch is up to his ears in plans and counterplans.

Ougi and Viletta is an awful romance, the kind only Geass target demographic naive teenagers could like. Ougi takes in an amnesiac and she falls in love with him...she then gets her memory back, remerabers she's a racist Britannian eager to clirab the social ladder, shoots him in the gut and then runs off to do just that. Then apparently she decides she does love him, they run around like teenagers sneaking out after dark and Ougi starts acting like she's this poor innocent, completely ignoring her past as a Britannian who was involved with things like the ghetto massacres that were used to kill the people he claimed to be fighting for.

Forgive me if I don't think that's great writing. It's pandering nonsense.

Wow, that actually makes alot of sense and I wouldn't mind that being the actual explanation for the events.
A decoy would fit pretty well with the basis of the episode and isn't some whack weird answer to the question of 'how is she alive?' I'm probably going to go back to watch the episode so I can see it all in motion, though. I'm assuming that Miss Rohmeyer is actually dead while the rest of the crew on the other ship isn't? And if Nunally is being held somewhere by Schneizel [i'm guessing since she wasn't at the ceremony where Lelouch announces he's the emperor] that means Sayako is with her as well right? If she wasn't you'd think by now she would have found a way to contact Lelouch. I wonder if Schneizel knows she's working for Lelouch. I can't imagine why she wouldn't have shown up by now unless there was something stopping her from doing so?
Then again maybe Schneizel is just lying to Lelouch?

Also, I wonder where Jeremiah ran off to.

She isn't kidding...she went crazy. I mean really crazy. And that news also makes me a bit mad, but at the same time, very happy because...

We finally get a Schneizel and Lelouch confrontation.

See I was gonna say that I was glad I finally caught up to the series, so I can finally come in here and talk with yall about Code Geass without being spoiled. And then you tempt me with such goodies as this!

Well, for now Xing-Ke has become my new favorite character.(Too bad he has the Kimmimaro syndrome though)

Erg. My feelings are in turmoil over this episode. I still don't like how Suzaku is taking the place of Lelouch as a 'brotherly' figure, even if Lulu can't be himself as Zero. Suzaku definitely has some kind of weird complex issue. Get your own Nunally, because that one is taken. Your heroic pompous attitude is annoying.

Nice job Kallen. You're just as stupid for smacking Lulu right before a kiss. Stop being so indecisive. If you like him you like him. And you do.

Drugs are bad. Especially the injecting kind.

*holding her comments on roloxlulu after watching the episode* His behind already belongs to a certain brown-haired bastard.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you got very excited and called it something like the defining show of this decade after having seen only one episode. I personally find that statement ridiculous and at the same time I can't agree that when this series wraps up we'll be seeing the end of a true gem.

Word of the wise, my information is all second hand so don't take it all at face value. Some small details might not be quite true but the juicy stuff sure is. Sorry if this inconveniences people.

I'll be watching the episode myself fairly soon though, so I will verify a few things.

Edit: Yeah, saw the whole thing. Guren Kashoushiki is HAX, I tell you. HAX. Almost more than Lancelot Conquista. I must say though, upgrading a machine in mid-air during a battle is got to be the most awesome way to upgrade anything.

Nunnally did pretty much reject Zero, but Lelouch fell back and the Guren came to pick him. He gave out a very sad cry of "NUNNALLY", to which Nunnally reacted to with what seemed to be recognition.

What's even more odd are the random penguins [at 27 seconRAB]...and wtf is Suzaku up to now. I get the feeling the Diethard doesn't exactly support the Black Knights plan to abandon Zero.

Still, it's unsettling all the same to see unarmed people getting slaughtered.

But then again, Geass is the kind of show where no matter which side we choose, we can sanction any and everything they do that could be construed as morally reprehensible. But then again, that false idealism does not exist in the Geass world. So let's just pick a side and enjoy their slaughter of anything and everything.

Well from what I'm hearing

The problem is we have a mix between an artistic ending and a cliche one. Lelouch basically arranging to have himself killed by Suzaku as Zero to usher in a new era of peace is a good idea. It's bittersweet but there's really no way Lelouch could have continued to sit on the throne or even live unless he used Geass on the entire world.

However, it also seems to be shot in the foot by the cheesey 'we're so happy now' endings for everyone else. I mean, look at that wedding photo....most of the cast, some who don't have much reason to be togethor, all happy and giggly....that's supposed to be what we want to see? I was never one of the ones who took the 'a satisfying ending for Lelouch' comment to mean all smiles and rainbows but we seem to have a direct conflict here where the two opposite spectrums of the show have collided

I don't want to go in depth about this series, this episode, or anything like that right now. It'd take waaaay too long. That and I don't take it seriously anyway. I haven't since like.. midway through last season. Anything can happen in this final episode. ANYTHING. With a couple characters coming back from death, what's to stop more?

In before
Clovis and Euphy come back to life. Guilford did. Clearly being disintegrated doesn't mean death anymore.

Ah well. Hopefully 25 will be aired this next weekend so we can move on to 00 Season 2. xD
