Oh, don't get me wrong, I didn't want Suzaku to die. I wanted him to realize that there was so much more value in living and I'm happy that he lives. It works so much better for his character. What makes me sad is that he's essentially alone and has basically forsaken his identity for the rest of his life. He's living with the burden of thinking he killed Lelouch (which is up in the air) and being with Nunnally all the time is a constant reminder of that. By the end, he's lost (among other things) his family, his country, his lover, his best friend, and his identity. It may be appropriate, but that doesn't make it happy *shrug*
