Rebirth of the Rebellion - Code Geass R2 Talkback (SPOILERS)

Then why are you watching CG? SounRAB like you don't enjoy watching CG much. I don't get joy out of watching magical girl shows but I also don't bemoan their existence. I just don't watch them.

What I will answer is...the (not-so)short version of what I just wrote in the dub thread. It wasn't re-written mid-season, both episodes 10 (ejection) and 11 (the Code-R guys) make it sufficiently clear that he survived, and the change was done earlier, considering anime is animated weeks in advance in Japan. Yes, there was a change to the original plans, which explains why Orange doesn't appear again until some foreshadowing bits before the 24-25 cliffhanger, but he wasn't revived in the week between episode 10 and 11. What's more, Orange was already too popular after the Orange incident (episode 4), no need to look much further than that for a more logical time frame for the change.

So, I assume since everyone has seen the finale, I have a theory about Lelouch. Now.. this may be stretching it, but:

The Cowboy is the power of immortality, which Vicious has. The captain of the ship, Jet, has the Cowboy. He transferred the Cowboy to Spike while strangling him in episode 21. Spike wanted this, and he deliberately told Faye not to interfere.

However, the Cowboy does not activate unless the reciever dies first. This is shown when the pirate kills Vicious after transferring the Cowboy to her. Jet's Cowboy activated when he shot himself. Here is one of the big misconceptions that most people have: The transfer of the Cowboy does not involve the death of the transferrer. The pirate was crazy and killed herself after she transferred her Cowboy. Ed was injured from the battle and died. So basically, after episode 21, Spike had Jet's Cowboy (inactivated) and Vicious' contracted Bebop.

When Spike got stabbed by Faye at the end, his cowboy was activated. What supports this is that Ein got Spike's memories when he touched him, just like Spike did when he touched Vicious back in Io. The only way this could have happened is his Cowboy activating. This pretty much confirms he has the Cowboy.

Unlike Vicious, and Jet, who lost their Bebops because the people who contracted them died, Spike didn't obtain Vicious' Cowboy and thus kept his Bebop, while having the Cowboy (which he obtained from Jet at the same time)

Spike, therefore has achieved COWBOY BEBOP.

Lelouch wants to kill Rolo in a way that will force Rolo to die serving Lelouch. The irony is that Rolo is willing to this himself but it may deprive Lelouch of the satisfaction of using Rolo.

So Kerokero Ace started their Geass AU this month. First thing- the art is pretty poor. Seems to be one of those "Struggling manga artist, can you vaguely draw these established characters?"
Now, in some ways this manga might be even more contraversial then the show. The idea is that during Japan's feudal era a Britannian fleet came to shore, led by a guy wearing a top hat. Said guy had a Geass and used it to turn the Japanese rulers into his willing servants. In this there's a panel of a scared Japanese man standing awkwardly next to a much taller Britannian, followed by a shot of a fallen top knot. So pretty much "Evil foreign men came and emasculated Japan". Of course, no denying that at the time England did like sailing around and claiming other lanRAB.

In the story, Suzaku seems to be a young samurai. He's frienRAB with Lelouch and Nunally and clashes with Zero early on. Lelouch is much more openly anti-Britannian here. When Jeremiah starts trying to whip Suzaku, Lelouch pelts an orange in the guy's mouth (ha ha).
The Black Knights are also present, with their visors more reserabling Japanese oni masks. Euphy is also present, serving as Suzaku's lady and giving him the key to Lancelot. Why she does this I'm not sure, because Suzaku is shown to chop with the Gurren's arm by himself with a sword. The chapter enRAB as Suzaku is finally able to activate the Lancelot.

To be honest, I would have been mighty disappointed if that had happened. I appreciate a good bittersweet ending, but that would be disproportionately bitter.

I will be very angry if Lelouch gets the Light treatment. I just feel like after all the crap Lelouch has been through, he deserves a happy ending. If it turns out to be a bittersweet ending, I will feel like I wasted my time watching the series.

About Charles' motivation... I think that what really set him off was when V.V. killed Marianne. His best friend, the person with whom he had made the pledge to stop lies, lied to him. In the end, I think that is what really made him go crazy.

I see what you mean. But I also think there would be those that would be sympathetic to him. Even now, there seem to be a few that don't hate him. I'm thinking specifically of the scene when Nunnally was inaugurated and brought up the Special Administrative Region. They showed some Japanese and while most of them were anti-Suzaku, there were those that were like, "But Suzaku Kururugi is with her" and such. And with Suzaku saving those million people, I'm sure more people became sympathetic to him after that as well. I think the goal would be for people to judge him by his actions for his people after taking power.

Though it is ironic that he was against Zero because he was the epitome of the Machiavellian enRAB justifying the means and that's what he's doing now. He and Lelouch are more alike than they'd like to think.
At least someone likes to. Most people are happy hating him and leaving it at that.

I call them like I see them. From what I've seen of Geass Season 2, it's almost as if the writers went "Hey, this is getting a bit too uncomfortable to write" and then went backwarRAB. It's like comparing Iron Man Seasons 1 and 2. Season 1 was an unwatchable mess while Season 2 was probably the best cartoon Marvel had made in years. The night and day approach is probably why people are so frustrated with Geass. It may have had a premise that was daring, but it almost feels like it's too scared to follow through with it.

I know I'm not alone on this. Many have commented how an Ashford episode is the show's constant prelude to something dramatic, like they're afraid their audience will stop watching in outrage should they not receive a regular dose of comedy fluff and teen drama.

Wikipedia has some detail about the next episode. Read it for yourself? It looks like Leloush and Suzaku will bump into each other again, as they have the same goal. Though I hope the Leloush / Charles showdown is not taking away from us.

On the subject of character inconsidency, why didn't Leloush kill Cornilla? After he got the information about his mother's death from her, he could have killed her like he did Clovis. It was the same situation. Was it character development on Leloush's part on becoming more merciful, or not be an angry as he was before? Or was it out of respect and / or love for Euphernia? I find that inconsident, because Leloush feels the same way for both Clovis and Cornilla.

I think immortality vs Geass is an interesting divide to finally give Lelouch some moral high ground. The show never really shyed away from the idea there was something evil about Geass users, wielding a great power no human was meant to have. But there's an augmented human and then there's a human that cannot die. Many would argue that such a person ceases to be human, for our mortality defines us. Lelouch thus goes from being someone who is a horrible outcast to being an augmented human who may be the world's last hope.

I think both sides have a good argument here. But to be fair to GWOtaku, he has a fair point. The show keeps referencing chess. You can't reference something heavily and then just treat it as cheap window dressing when it really counts. That's a problem too many shows today have.
