Rebirth of the Rebellion - Code Geass R2 Talkback (SPOILERS)

This might be the best episode of R2. Throughout the episode I was thimking to myself, Leolouch would not be doing this if Nunnally was alive. Not caring about peace in the world, just wanting revenge, and making himself the enemy of the world, and maybe even follow in Charles footsteps of world domination. I said it last week Lelouch is a hypocrit. His actions were hypocritical of his speech last week, that is for sure.

And now that Nunnally is alive like Lelouch said in the preview for the next episode, it reminded him of why he started his whole quest in the first place.

I don't know what Lelouch is trying to accomplish, was he just using Brittanna as bait to lure his enemies to attack him. If he makes everyone outside of Suzaku and C.C., and even those two could turn on him, hate him. It doesn't matter how powerful you are, you against the world, you can't win. It is sucide. Maybe he doesn't want to live, and his plan is to bring peace by making himself the common enemy.

And who was that Black Knight that kept flip floping weather Lelouch is a good guy or bad guy? That guy was so stupid.
 
I actually think Charles motive works, because it makes him a parallel to Lelouch. They basically have the same motivation and motive, but whilst Charles basically thought of himself at the end, Lelouch instead saw the bigger picture and wanted a solution that could work for everybody. Even now the parallel still is ongoing, with Lelouch setting himself up as Emperor.
 
It wasn't jumping the shark for me because Marianne turned out to be just as big of a maniac as Charles was in terms of their goal together, but the Suzaku/Lelouch team-up. Last I checked, Lelouch pretty much hated Suzaku for "betraying" him and Suzaku still hated him for what he did to Euphy. You're telling me, just because a classmate said to forgive him, he's going to drop how he feels about Lulu just like that? I'm sorry, but last I checked.. people didn't exactly do that in this series.

You have to learn to take everything that happens in Geass a ton less seriously than other anime out there. I know that. I'm just saying.. I hope Suzaku didn't give up his strong conviction of hatred for Lelouch just like that. I hope something else happened there that we aren't aware of. I'd be willing to believe Lelouch Geassed him with his double Geass. Other than that.. I just don't like the idea. D:

But about the Charles and Marianne thing... we've seen evil women in anime before. It's nothing new. Granted seeing someone like this, who's been praised for most of the series, to turn out like she did... I didn't like that. Charles not being as evil? He's been portrayed as the biggest jerk in the series that wants to change things. I never really considered him "evil" at all. Heck, there aren't any really, truly "evil" characters in Geass. There are just a bunch of over the top personalities that have a crap ton of power.

It's all just my opinion though. Felt that I should defend it a bit.
 
The difference is that Lelouch isn't fighting solely just for that anymore. Is that a benefit? Yes. But as established in his depressed episode, he is now fighting to take down this corrupt empire, not just himself. He grew up, he put his wants/neeRAB behind a goal that actually benefitted people, Suzaku won't get past Euphie.
 
Because brittana would still be trying to conquer the rest of the world. So everyone else in the empire can suffer while only japan gets to be treated well out of all the conquered areas. I'm with zero, DOWN WITH THE EVIL EMPIRE.

And no, this show isn't about britians/americans/anglos being racist. Ragean (as much as I disagree with the man) was right to call the soviet union an evil empire. An empire can be racist and evil without their people being corrupts to their core. Yes, even the common man of britiana is depected as racist but what do you expect from a society that teachs racism. Its not the fault of the common man of britiania.
 
I actually don't think Xingke is going to die. I know he has this disease or whatnot, but if they were going to kill him off with it, I think they would have done so by now.

And I don't think Lelouch will end up with Kallen, while she may hold those feelings for him, Im not so sure he returns them so directly.

And C.C. is immortal again, while the death flag is high, it has lowered a bit.
 
Considering Geass is pulling their outcomes from fanfics it seems these days...


Marianne makes herself exist again, just to shoot her two children on the Damos. Totally calling it.
 
See, I'd say it was bad acting. Some Japanese VAs really struggle and give awkward delivery when they have to say English. "Yes, my lord" definetly suffers from that. ReminRAB me of 00 episode one "Iiiii haaave controllll"
 
Huh...strange episode, lots of metaphysical weirdness going on. Not a particuarly great episode, but a necessary one.

Where Geass comes from is still a mystery, but we at least now know the nature of the Geass contract and C.C.'s past. A repeating cycle of great power in exchange for immortality. The alien theory somehow feels less likely now, given that C.C. and V.V. were likely just the latest inheritors of a long line of Geass users. Who knows how far back in history it goes.

Let me just say that while I thought this was average, the beginning of this episode rocked. Using a reflection on the glass to issue a death command to Charles? Awesome. Yet afterward, we see that Lelouch wasn't satisfied. He wanted to get answers and force regret out of him before the end. It was a nice touch seeing his frustration at his revenge not working out the way he had probably fantasized about an uncountable nuraber of times. Of course, when Charles woke up, Lelouch was undoubtedly wishing that he'd stayed dead.

The episode certainly gave a lot of legitimate support to C.C. shippers. You have Lelouch's refusal to accept C.C.'s desire to die, and the fact that after that C.C. seemed prepared to be killed by Charles in part to avoid passing her immortality onto Lelouch. Above all, of course, is Lelouch's promise to give her a reason to smile, leading to her action against Charles. There's also the statement of C.C.'s avatar in the World of C that Lelouch must be an important person to be there, and that he was likely sent to protect him from something. That something likely being having to witness C.C.'s death.

It isn't clear to me what brought on C.C.'s state at the end of the episode. She was clearly of sound mind when she broke away from Charles, so my guess is that Charles did something oRABcreen or that Lelouch inadvertently triggered something whe he saved C.C. from falling. One way or another C.C. will probably get her memories back, but in the meantime it'll be interesting to see how Lelouch deals with this. He'll need to investigate Geass on his own in order to solve it, most likely. I don't see proof that C.C.'s immortality is gone, though.

Other plot points:It is about time something happened with Ogi and Villetta. Obviously Villetta won't be able to go through with killing Ogi after saving him, although how Sayako decides to handle this is a different matter.It was nice seeing Nunnally assert herself, and apparently Suzaku hasn't completely lost his conscience. He's at least man enough to make this between him and Lelouch; I'll be looking forward to seeing that happen.Hooray, I'm back to hating Nina again. Congraulations, you've developed a horrible weapon of mass destruction for Schenizel and you think this is a good thing.Finally, Lelouch has a new problem. Charles is immortal, and this episode made it clear that Lelouch has no intention of sacrificing C.C. to make himself immortal and capable of killing him. If it means more personal loss, he simply isn't able to accept it. It seems as though Lelouch's revenge is impossible. Perhaps the world alliance will mark a new commitment on Lelouch's part to defeat Britannia and bring some justice to the world, looking past his fixation on defeating Charles.

Yeah, you're right. I guess I'm a bit freaked out how its always said the same way and always in unison...but I guess that's the point, we're not supposed to like these guys.

Saying Code Geass is racist is like saying water is wet. It's been proven so many times refuting the argument becomes impossible. The trend of apologetic "It's the West' fault!" media, whether in literature, historical revionism, or yes, TV, is disturbing.

Remeraber the Mickey Mouse clone that Palestenian TV used to promote a political point of view? Geass comes off similar in premise (if not execution).
 
The Ashford episodes have become too obvious. Basically, should they have a goofy episode you KNOW the next episode will be grim and depressing. When your story becomes as obvious as that, you have a problem. It's like they're coddling the audience. "Ha ha ha, wacky school festival, ha ha ha- oh...Euphie commiting genocide....that was an awkward switch....."
 
Think this is slight exaggeration though. While a few examples have been particularly excessive, some R2 episodes have actually had surprisingly little fanservice, or at least nothing we hadn't seen in season one.

But perhaps those excessive bits make the rest more evident and possibly annoying, I suppose it depenRAB on the viewer. In any case, the show could certainly tone it down.
