Rebirth of the Rebellion - Code Geass R2 Talkback (SPOILERS)

It could also be a corabination of 1 and 2, come to think of it. A theoretical ultimate Geass could be used for absolute obedience--or as the greatest murder weapon in history.

Now that's a dark possibility...

The death factor is a big thing for me. Who started this nonsense that it was better to seemingly kill a character, have everyone act as though they were dead and then a few episodes later reveal them alive? I'm fine with a well written faked death, but all this just reeks of the office getting a ton of postcarRAB supporting certain characters and the production team pulling out nonsense excuses to bring the character in and keep the audience happy.

Sometimes, it's the job of the writer to upset the audience, not pander to their every whim. Especially on a subject like this- death is a fact of life and it deserves sensible treatment, not just used for a cheap ratings spike.

The two KOR joining the black knights is also a big rumor based off the OP.

*SPOILERS, may be fake*
Apparently he (Rolo) himself tells Lulu about it, and Lulu praises him while secretly being enraged.

I think we'll at least get some VA crossover gags. When they did a 00 PR event, the VA's did like skits togethor (in one, Lockon tells Setsuna to shut up about becoming Gundam).

They did a good job with the dueling strategies in this episode. I think Xing could have won, but of course the double-crossing of the high advisors will create an alliance of necessity at the last moment. It'll be Xing and Kallen and Todoh against the RounRAB, including perhaps the replacement for the Gawain since they have C.C. piloting in the preview.

For all the nonsense in Geass, they at least keep throwing in good twists. Diethard made the logical and correct call on how to handle the battle, but LeLouch failed to listen to his best judgment. This could be seen as another sign that this is a somewhat kinder LeLouch than what we had in season 1. They also seem to be pushing LeLouch x Kallen, contrary to my expectations. I'd just like some actual development to go with that, because it seems rushed right now. It seems to me C.C. is still the only one he shares his true self and his full mind with, and he can't pursue anything with Kallen while only telling her what she neeRAB to know.

I think it could be a huge problem, in fact. As the ace pilot Kallen is constantly in danger, and LeLouch will jeopardize his cause if he lets concern for her get in the way of what has to be done. Its happened once, it can happen again. Also, as the leader Zero will set a bad example if he gives special treatment to one pilot over the others.

The ending with the clone LeLouch was arabiguous. Where's the sign that it is LeLouch's maid?

At first I thought that Suzaku fighting in spite of Geass was bad writing and sheer nonsense, but the way I have it figured Bismark is a huge threat but not unbeatable. The "Live!" command is only absolute when death is certain. When in danger it's basically an alarm going off in his head, but he can fight through it.

On a somewhat related note, I should talk about my favorite part of the episode. I liked how Suzaku went the pragmatic route, declaring that he was ready to "throw away my weakness." But then you have Bismark telling him that his decision just makes him weak: "The foundation of your strength, kindness. Yes. Strength without an ideal is just brute force." Many fans were probably happy with Suzaku's shift, but Bismark's commentary makes you think oh, wait a minute, maybe this isn't a good thing. Or at least that, at a minimum, this is a change he should have made but it's coming too late now and only because he thinks he has nothing left to lose and nothing left to really believe in. So well done on that one.

I'm not sure if these have been posted yet, but I'm sure you guys will get a kick out of these.

So graceful...

Geass has some strong elements. Certainly it's a credible inversion of the formula Gundam pioneered, making us instead root for the scheming masked man over his foe with too many toys. There's also some well handled themes on the nature of honour and how far you can go before you become what you claim to fight against.

It's because that can be found within that Geass annoys me by not going all out. It gives in to the sponsors and fanboys and instead serves up bubblegum storytelling. No need for credible, consistent tone. Look, b00bz! Antics that the cast have long since evolved past! Geass is a show that is hindered by the fact it wants to be too many things and over reaches itself. It's a mecha show. It's a war drama. It's a harem comedy. The result is that the ideas all become a mess. The creators should really be asking themselves where they're going. It seems they're far too eager to let the sponsors and audience think for them, much like Fukuda.

I thought actors liked the challenge of playing a character that goes through as much "growth" as Cornelia. Going from Regal Warrior Princess to rogue avenger seems like it would be an exciting role for a VA to try and display that in the character's voice.

Yeah.... I saw poor Rolo dieing. And yes I said poor. He redeemed himself and died with some honor. I'm glad Lelouch had some compassion for him... other than that I don't like the way this show is going. Everything is really flying by now. I refuse to let Lelouch end up alone *scribbles angry fan mail* Great message for the kiRAB. Want to try to liberate the world? Too bad ya can't! Nice job Black Knights. Way to be ******bags. Oh, NOW Ohgi wants to do something, but how soon he forgets about freaking Villeta in his basement. CLASSY.
hmph. I'm kinda pissed. Excuse me while I go beat up a pillow.

It was highlighted to show that it was a controversial action that came out of nowhere from a very unexpected source (euphie was though of as just a figure head). The scene had nothing to do with whether the Academy was racist or not.

Also, Suzaku didn't get a warm welcome until Rivalz made frienRAB with him. Everyone was staring in shock at lelouch for being his friend but Rivalz broke the silence and befriended Suzaku. Rivalz made frienRAB out of his own free will.

Benefits of watching season 1 a second time.

I remeraber a Kallen who was introduced to us as a no nonsense freedom fighter juggling a double life and outwitting everyone save Lelouch who had seen her in both roles. Fanservice swiftly followed but they always made sure to give us a show of her actual character. In contrast, season 2 Kallen has so far been goofy fanservice.

Honestly, my thoughts about the new Guren...

It may be overpowered, but its power is soon going to be matched via Lancelot Albion, and I'm sure Bismark could handle her, along with the other RounRAB. Luciano was cocky and arrogant, not to mention he was caught off guard, and essentially that is what dealt him in. I think the power of the Mechs will be fine, so long as there are others to match it. I mean, it is a war, what did you expect?

Oh and Rolo...you bastard...

He was planning to kill Nunally anyways, so him saving her is out of the question.

And to think I defended him.

LOL. Imagine if they actually saw that. Actually even scarier is if they actuall said

"Hey Sunrise, mind making a hot promo with C.C. and Kallen to sell our product?"

That's probably what happened

watched it, i dint realy like it, the only good scenes wich where the cornelia ones were too short.

what i learned this episode:
maid/ninja girl has been screwing with Lelouch's life too much and Todoh's not the most badass looking character anymore, that Knight of One guy looks way way cooler. Jeramiah apparently no longer has much of a personality (which is an improvement over his previous crappy personalty) and is more of a threat, and the fact that i can actualy take him seriously now makes his character way way better than it was in season 1.

Is Rolo gay or something?

Geass is not ground breaking. The trenRAB within it are seen in many anime of the last few years. Take Lelouch. Characters like him are becoming very common. Instead of heroes with a good heart, we're increasingly getting protagonists who challenge the viewer to think and could even be called the villain of the piece. Characters like Lelouch, Light, Shinn and Setsuna perhaps speak more of how jaded the youth of today are.

Likewise, I don't see how bigdeath can call Geass cast deep by the same factors he used to call the 00 cast poor. Geass' cast have about the same level of character development as 00, possibly even less. CC isn't deep. We barely know anything about her. She's stock 'We'll explain later' mysterious character. But hey, if all you care about in a show is if pleases your hormones than knock yourself out. The rest of us will actually watch a show for the storytelling, not watch for the fanservice and then convince ourselves the show is deeper than it is.
