Rebirth of the Rebellion - Code Geass R2 Talkback (SPOILERS)

I liked GWO's writings because they were pretty good natured, even with the Sunrise jabs and all.

I'll probably end up occasionally showing up in the Gundam 00 thread too, but a little less than I did here (which isn't saying much, to be frank).



*Shrugs*. Maybe my understanding of fairness is different from yours and a bunch of other people's...because I managed to enjoy the show with a certain amount of seriousness all the way to the end, and I'm only mildly to moderately interested in the whole "lulz" thing.

Yes, the show itself is often absurd, but not to the point of having nothing else worth appreciating. A few good laughs are fine, of course, but they're not the main reason I started watching Code Geass in the first place. About half of the memes get surprisingly tiring, at least for me, and I definitely can't say that the story was otherwise "pathetic". Not a masterpiece either, but somewhere in between is closer to what I'd call fair.

I take certain aspects of Code Geass seriously, others I do not. Simple.

Which is why I can't honestly agree with a good chunk of those final thoughts you've linked to, or with your own reply really, but well...that's just me.

Plus hasn't it already been established she is interested in the other guy apart of the 4-sworRAB?
 
Maybe so. We might find out what caused them to be so crazy. My guess it is the power of Geass. That could be the reason Lelouch gives up, because he knows that he could become insane.
 
Perhaps, but when did wanting to live ever matter in Tomino inspired stuff? Something about these last few episodes screams end of season bloodbath.
 
Prehaps, but the past few episode have been exciting and have manged to answer some of the questions that have existed since season one. And it does not look like the show is going to slow down anytime soon goven the preview for the up coming episodes. So I'm rather optimistic about CG right now.



Well, with R2 more than halfway done I don't think your going to find that Consistency. What can I say, a show can't please everyone.

Its like some people complaining the Dark Knight movie is too dark. But I see your point, at least the movie is Consistently dark.
 
Look at it from Suzaku's viewpoint. Someone just charged you and the next thing you know you are turn around and you assailant is on his back. You'd know something is up. Plus, V.V. explain that geass to him so Suzaku should be able to figure out instantly that when he has a blackout, however brief, after being attack then it means he is still under the effects of Lelouch's geass.

I think what is softening Suzaku up is the realization that if Lelouch would give him a "live" command then it would make no sense for him to kill Euphy. As he said this episode, Lelouch had the power and smarts to make Euphy's plan fail without killing her. So I think now that time has passed and he has calm down he has realized that Lelouch may not have killed Euphy in cold blood.
 
Don't be ridiculous. Xingke's going to die. Kallen can't die because C.C. is obviously going to die since she's got the most death flags out of the entire cast and Shirley is already dead.
 
I definately do not want Schneizel having a Geass, he is badass without one. And it still is pretty freaking rare, only what, 4 people total we have seen had it? 5 if they decide to introduce Rai, which I'm surprised they didn't, but I'm not so sure if they will do so late in the game.
 
As I see it, 18 episodes can and should break down roughly like this.

5 China episodes
5 Europe episodes
2-3 exposition/development/fanservice episodes
4-5 "final battle" episodes

That is plenty. There's plenty of time in there to get into Chinese and European perspectives and attitudes while moving the plot forward. If they really want to get deep they can save it for OVA's or fan disc material, but the series ought to stay focused.
 
It's the target audience problem. The same reason we have stuff like SEED Club and the likewise Geass version. Ultimately, the target audience in Japan don't seem to care about the actual main plot. It's the love triangles and cheesecake they want. Who cares what role Cornellia will play? Apparently it's more important we get her as a chibi phonestrap
 
All that neeRAB to be done now is to top it all off with Symphony of the Night dialogue, the King regarding men as a "miserable pile of secrets" and having at Lelouch.
 
She's too irrelevant to kill? /rimshot

All right, seriously...her participation is known to us, but perhaps isn't to the Black Knights. Though, since she is a Britannian soldier, it doesn't necessarily take a genius to put two and two together. She was at least being confined and not treated as a meraber of the rebellion in good standing, but Ougi obviously doesn't have the guts to get rid of her one way or the other.

Jeremiah's in the same boat as her, so who knows. It's possible that the Black Knights will want to get Britannian defectors out of their ranks, as well as people that were close to Lelouch but lacking any other ties to the rebellion. Jeremiah qualifies, as does C.C. There's no reason to risk Villeta being around either, but I'm sure Ougi will whine about it anyway.
 
The comedy & fanservice sucked away lot of time, but I did like all the little subplots episode 5 pushed forward:Todoh and Ogi rallying the Black Knights around Zero. I didn't expect anything less. Todoh would understand firsthand Britannia's strength, and like Karen surely realizes that the rebels and Zero need each other.Rollo's internal conflict. LeLouch is manipulating him very well, but we can see that the danger is always there that he'll snap and turn against him at a very bad time. However, at least LeLouch is prepared now that Rollo apparently told him about a weakness to his Geass.Poor Rivalz, looks there are some unrequited feelings for Milly at play.Lloyd and Cecile are back next episode!Looks like that at a minimum, Villetta will be blackmailed into being an accomplice to LeLouch's plans. It could be interesting if she's forced to hinder Suzaku.Of course, the ending trumps it all. Bringing Nunally back like this is an AWESOME plot twist. It was perfectly timed too, coming just when it seemed as though LeLouch's plans were going forward without a hitch. This really is an impossible situation for him, I can't wait to see how he handles it next episode.

HellCat's dead on about this, Nunally definitely isn't being controlled. She doesn't need to be, she's been in the dark from the beginning. She trusts Suzaku as a friend and has without a doubt been told exactly what he neeRAB her to think she knows. It really is the ultimate challenge for LeLouch. Now it's not as simple as kicking Britannia out of Japan, he'll have to do so while making sure Nunally is safe in the process. It's an excellent but devious move, one that definitely cements the "Suzaku's a bastard!" sentiment. He's using Nunally as a pawn, and if anything could make LeLouch hate him more that has to be it.

I guess the one good thing is that if Nunally is coming to rule Japan even as a figurehead, it'll be much easier for LeLouch to deduce where she is. He'll likely have to steal her back from Suzaku by force, though...

For now, my primary feeling is relief. The copy pattern is over and we're finally headed for uncharted territory, and its looking pretty damn good right now.
