Rebirth of the Rebellion - Code Geass R2 Talkback (SPOILERS)

well, like someone said there isnt exactly alot of time left in the series to introduce and develop are these characters, and i wanna actualy have an ending this time, not a wait till season 3 situation.

Samurai manga gets even nuttier. Shirley and Milly working in a pizza parlor. Euphie introducing Suzaku to Gino and Anya. Top hat wearing Charles commanding a flying boat in battle against the Black Knights. Jeremiah using that sphere fortress.

It's like...things are happening, but without any of the plot flow from the original show, so everything is just kinda...yeah.

The only one I'm that fond of is Strike Rouge. I stayed the hell away from Taozi until Soma proved herself likeable and not 'Tee hee, I'm a girl character piloting a mecha!'...in fairness, I've seen debate if the Taozi is a reference to these recent Pink Mecha or Haman's Gaza-C.

Here's a good question- why does Villeta get off? First time we saw her, she was taking part in the ghetto massacre. So, what, Ougi will ignore that because she fluttered her eyelashes?

I forget where, but I know it has been confirmed somewhere, I'll take some time later to find it. And it hasn't been confirmed that there are actually 12 Knights, and the show seems to actually justify that there aren't, so to further the 'nurabers don't matter' why would they leave those open instead of moving everyone up 1 or whatever?

Edit: And it was already awkward.

And since PHW is here, I'd like to bring up a point...

What exactly is Suzaku fighting for now? At first he claimed he wished to change things from the inside for the Japanese, and yet now, who is he fighting for? The Japanese don't respect him one bit, and yet they have progressed very far, and now he is going to fight against them. When a Nation is started, maybe it isn't the wrong method anymore like he often likes to claim, it seems that a lot of people agreed on the situation of the world. So really, if Suzaku were to win, became KoO, who would follow him? Not the Japanese...

Racism was highlighted as the academy's reaction to Euphie's decleration. If they wanted to suggest that was only part of the response, it would have been quite easy for them to show some more positive students. I agree an audience doesn't need everything spoonfed to them but sometimes something isn't shown purely because it isn't there.

Ougi pretty much jumped into the situation with out even thinking about what he was doing. Not only does he have to lead the Black Knights, but unlike before, the entire worlRAB eyes are pretty much on them. Ougi balancing alliances? Making political speeches?
rriiiight. Put that thing back in your pants, dude.
"Ougi, Viletta just tried to kill us. We're going to lock her u-"
"How dare you insult my cupcake!!"

I think Diethard could even do a better job.

I'm sure he does, but shes family, so I think it's different. I think it's a different kind of connection he had with Suzaku. Nunally will always be there, they are connected by blood- but how many true frienRAB does Lulu have anymore? And when was the last time he even saw Nunally? I hate seeing how close she is with Suzaku instead of her own brother. Even though Kallen and C.C. are there, a physical presence isn't the same as an emotional one. Although that brings me to wonder how much Lulu cares for Kallen, in terms of romance.

but my point was that now Shirley is gone. She was the last one who was absolutly for Lelouch despite her fathers death.

I think after todays episode Rolo is very much a key character. I think since he arrived he's been a key character. Not only has he impacted Lelouch, but he was given the identity of being his brother of all things. I think somebody that close should be at least considered mildly important to the plot.
I also don't think there is a need for any of the negative reactions towarRAB this series to be toned down just because a few of you see nothing wrong with the way things have been progressing. HC's criticisms are as good as any other. I don't think a 3rd season would work, nor would I like one. The side characters of the second season deserved to be expanded upon in the second season- not put on hold for a 'later date'.

The knights were introduced through Suzaku as a faction of resistance against the Black Knights. I think it would be stupid for them to have been created souly for the purpose of being killed off. The least the creators can do is give us a little back story on them so it doesn't look like they were meaninglessly thrown into the fodder. And the fact that they can waste episodes of Ashford students running around willynilly only makes it worse.

In general yes, but I meant the student council merabers. Nina had a racist fear of Japanese but as far as I recall Milly, Shirley, and Rivalz were fine. And yeah, it took LeLouch to get people accepting Suzaku but if the student council were hardcore pureblooRAB they would've thought something was seriously wrong with LeLouch for even asking the question.

I'd say C.C. is quite devoted to Lelouch, even willing to kill her former comrades at the geass cult. Geez, how much does a girl have to do to prove her devotion?

Um... yeah. Suzaku actually considers helping Lelouch, then the Glaston Knights show up in their Gareths and Schneizel's royal guard arrest Lelouch. Suzaku's trying to figure out what the hell is going one but then Lelouch is like "Suzaku, YOU BETRAYED ME". Then later in the episode Suzaku is complaining to Schneizel and Canon about them not informing him of their plans and all that crap. Suzaku clearly seems regretful of this course of action, Lelouch now hates Suzaku. It's a complete reversal of what happened after the Euphy incident. I see no reason to hate Suzaku for stuff that he had no control over.

The episode was better than I was expecting after reading some of the comments, but the flaws were quite apparent. The art looked odd in more than a few places and the entire episode did feel a bit rushed, though with all the story that is left to tell in the last five episodes, I can understand the necessity of an episode like this; just as long as the remaining episodes are as good as the previous few were.

Honestly, I think a whole episode could have been devoted to Suzaku's loss of idealism--I may love him, but that hit me pretty hard--and the planned coup, considering how big not only the shift in Suzaku's attitude was, but him coming right out and asking to be ordered to assassinate the Emperor. Just wow.

Gino's been one of my new favorite characters all season, but his refusal to go along with it just won him even more points in my book.

And Schneizel... what is there to say about him? Him agreeing to become Emperor and name Suzaku Knight of One so quickly took me off guard a bit, though I guess I shouldn't be surprised. He's obviously been waiting for the best time for something like this.

I demand an explanation for the Marianne/Anya/C.C. dynamic we've got going here. Marianne somehow inhabiting Anya explains why she was Geassed years ago, but also raises the question of what actually happened with that. And C.C. getting her memories back, while welcome, was also something I'd like some more explanation about.

Going back to Suzaku, I find it interesting that he was able to fight the "Live" Geass while facing Bismark and yet he wasn't able to at previous times when he seemed willing to die. I suppose the fact he's finally sticking to a path has something to do with it, but it was still interesting. And I agree, his fight with Bismark could have been awesome. It would have been cool to see them go at it with sworRAB, but I suppose the result would have been the same and with so much left to do in the remaining episodes, cutting it down makes sense. Just makes me wish some of the fluffier elements from earlier in the season could have been pared down to maybe get an actual fight. Hopefully we'll get a real fight between them down the line. There's great potential though. Oh, and Bismark appearing to have his own Geass? Huh.

Lelouch was badass when he walked through the lines of Knightmares and then faced the Emperor. Should be interesting to see what exactly gets him out of this current predicament (of his own doing, even).

And somewhere deep down, I'm still holding out hope for the Lelouch-Suzaku team-up, even if it seems less and less likely as things move forward.

Overall, it wasn't a terrible episode--I see it as a necessary evil to keep things moving--but it was far from the best Geass has to offer. Hopefully the good stuff will return next episode.
