Rebirth of the Rebellion - Code Geass R2 Talkback (SPOILERS)

I guess he was a fan favorite in Japan, but I don't think Jeremiah should be back. I'd rather its left that C.C. defeated Jeremiah and we don't see him again. We have Suzaku and these Knights of the Round as Britannian characters, and Jeremiah could get in the way of focus that ought to be placed on them. Not to mention he was sadly reduced to a crazed shell of his former self, and I wouldn't want him back just to be the crazy guy that keeps showing up.

Because realistic shows have little Chinese girls controlling everything behind the scenes. (She is Chinese, right?)

I don't think I'll ever be able to favor 00 over Geass, mainly because of the characters. I just couldn't get into any of the characters, they didn't develop them enough, and the ones they did develop I didn't find likeable, except Setsuna, I enjoyed his character quite thoroughly. I thought all of the antagonists were rather boring and generic.

If we are comparing seasons, I think Code Geass season 1 destroys 00 season 1. I'll withold judgement until after 00 season 2 is over to make that decision.

I just think Code Geass does a better job of giving us likeable characters that you want to root for. And I am talking about main characters, Shirley was a side character, I also think it gives us better antagonists, moreso in the way that they just seem more evil. Look at Schneizel, even when he is nice to people, his character reaks of a cold atmosphere around himself. And V.V. is just creepy.

Oh well. I like Geass, you like 00, and that's the way the dice just happen to roll.

Oh and Sam, (is it alright if I call you Sam?) there are plenty of people who lack common sense in the world. I don't Shirley was really all that stupid, just oblivious to how people felt about her.
 
So they really are going the path of Destiny and giving the cast overpowered upgrades...sometimes you have to wonder if there's any creativity at Sunrise or if it all comes down to get rich quick.

It finally struck me what the upgraded Gurren reminRAB me of- Night Terror from Soul Calibur 3.
 
Well, what I'm saying is that Rolo has a pathological obsession that is leading him to do these destructive things. That's unique to him, the kiRAB don't share that problem.
 
Code Geass: The Origin

See Code Geass told without commericial restrictions! An exciting, well thought out re-invention of an old favourite....until the creator starts to loathe it and just starts putting in any old fan pleasing crap to fill space.
 
But that's an issue of idealism vs reality. To give a simple example- let's say I set up a stall with glasses of lemonade. I put up a sign which says the lemonade is free, but request folks take one only. What's to stop people from taking more than one glass? My own idealism is hoping that people will be respectful.
Really, you have the foundations for an entirely seperate thread on this matter. Does the fact that some people will show restraint make the idea a success? Does the fact the idea will be perverted by others make it a failure? Like I said, in the purest form of logic an idea which can go wrong in the slightest sense is a failure. But in practice obviously that can't be completly true...

1. She cowers in fear when Lelouch is attacking Rolo.
2. Upon first sight of Kallen, she thinks that Kallen is her mistress (and thus Lelouch's wife).

She doesn't escape with Lelouch, he's entirely alone now.
 
As odd as Code Geass has been at times, that is still pushing it for me. I can buy Nunnally being able to tell if people are lying or whatnot because of escalated heart rates or sweaty palms or other physical triggers. Her just "sensing" Lelouch's memories really makes no sense. But considering it's been established in the past that someone with a Code can do, well, what Lelouch did with Nunnally, that explanation makes the most sense to me.I don't think Lelouch surviving takes away from his sacrifice, though. The only one aware that he is alive at this point would be C.C., and really, he has given up his life; he's sacrificed everything. He has to go on living (until he passes his Code on, I guess) with the knowledge that, outside of a tiny group of people, the entire world hates him. That is a potentially long time to go knowing the entire world despises your memory. Not to mention he will be isolated and in hiding since he can't risk showing his face. Yes, he has C.C. with him, but that's one person. One. For a potentially very, very long time. So I really don't see him living as undercutting his sacrifice. Appearances are everything, and even the people closest to Lelouch think he is dead. That's a very lonely existence he would have created for himself if he were indeed alive.
 
I not sure how to feel about Kallen. On one hand it would be great to have more development for her but as airfighter said its really would have just been filler. What has knowing Kallen's mother done for the main plot? Would learning about Kallen's father be any different?

Now, we could have used a little bit more development on Susaku's part to better understand why he finnally sided with Lelouch but look at what else we got. Rolo, now dispite everyone hating him for the yaoi bait he is, I thought his actions and death added a lot to R2.

Rolo's story highlighted the main focus of Code Geass, which seems to be the effect of lies and people using personas to hide their true self's. Rolo chose to die for a lie, Shirly got caught up in lies which ended up killing her, Orange-kun ended up fighting the man he was loyal to over a lie, the emperor and V.V. were obsessed with destroying lies, Cornelia devoted her life to emulating a women that turn out to be quite a liar, and Schneizel pretenRAB to be kind when in truth he is the spiting image of ruthless Machiavellian prince.

So, despite recent events being quite hectic they do highlight a central theme of the show.

Back to Susaku, the reason I feel he joined Leouch is that he finally drop his morals and belief of method over end results. Hes now for results. In fact, lelouch has had morals all along with his refusal to kill his best friend Susaku or geass him into obeying. Nor has Lulu geass whole armies under is command, obviously he has now dropped what morals he had.
 
So...were they trying to make us hate the Black Knights? Because that's what this has done. Nearly 2 seasons of being loyal allies and then they betray him for an easy win...real nice guys.
