Rebirth of the Rebellion - Code Geass R2 Talkback (SPOILERS)

The thing is, I'm still taking phw's explanation...not because of denial, but because what goes on with Nunnally at the end doesn't make any sense otherwise. It certainly wouldn't be the first time that an identity "dies" while the person remains. Lelouch vi Britannia the Emperor certainly "died" at the end, the price being that fall from power and isolation for Lelouch...well, almost, as C.C. says.

But yes, there should be no R3.
 
I personally took Nunally's bit as something natural. She always had a keen sense of what was happening around her whenever she touched someone's hand when she was blind. It wouldn't be all that hard to conceive that Nunally felt Lelouch's thoughts and memories right before he died, without all that Code stuff many people theorize trying to explain it to justify his living self.

I am personally content with Lelouch being dead, and the world living without him. To me, it brings his accomplishment to a much grander scale, and shows of a way for him to repent for his great sins he couldn't otherwise be forgiven for. Him surviving would hold no personal rewarRAB to that extent, and it would severely cheapen his sacrifice to the audience, and therefore, the world. And the writer's confession of his death is more of a foreclosure, seeing as there is far too much bantering over whether or not he's actually alive.

This is more of my belief, how I'd see it at this point of time.
 
Don't get me wrong, I don't exactly support Rolo, I think he should die because he is unstable, and is a huge threat to everyone around Lelouch. I am just saying that you can't wish death upon him and then go and feel bad for the kiRAB who were killed. But then again, I don't exactly support all of the explicit hate for Rolo, which actually isn't that much because he is pretty popular in the polls that Japan does.
 
I think we can all agree about the Ougi issue. No one cares about it at all. If I do one last parody, I'm going to mock that so hard.



Hell, you never know. If the director has a good idea, I wouldn't mind. However, the ending seems pretty definitive. That said...

...a short story about Suzaku's career as Zero, however, could be pretty cool.

It's annoying. On the other hand, she hasn't had much to actually do yet. Hopefully when the action actually gears up she'll start contributing again.

There is at least some dramatic conflict being set up in her exchange with CC; she clearly considers herself to be part of Lelouch's inner circle, so who knows how long she'll tolerate being cut out of the loop like this.
 
I feel as if there is wayyyy to much Geass hate. It saddens me a bit, but oh well, I respectfully disagree with your opinions!

I honestly love FMP to death, but I think CG is a million times better. I think the characters are just far more likeable. I think the comedy in the show is subtle, but very much apparant and there, I like the fact that it is done that way. I enjoy the silly gags they do at Ashford academy, mainly because of my particular liking towarRAB Milly, Rivalz, Shirley, etc. {Except Nina, I never liked her, even before she went crazy}.

XOMiss_Samantha: I think you are wrong in saying that a comedic season of Geass would fail. I think if they did a 13 episode season just featuring Ashford, it would do extremely well, but then people would knock Geass for being a rip-off I suppose.

About the fanservice, ya know, it isn't that bad, it could certainly be a million times worse. And even where there is fanservice, it usually makes sense to the scene, apart from the previous episode, that was a little uncalled for, but I thought it was kind of funny when Sayoko responded. The bunny outfits made sense, they wanted to degrade the Elevens as much as possible, so why not treat them as if they were their own personal bunnies? Piloting Guren in the suit, well, she didn't exactly have time to change. Other angle shots of Kallen's butt, I mean, they didn't need to do them that way, but hey it gives us another perspective of piloting rather than just a straightforward frontal shot, and I personally like seeing the other perspectives. C.C. in her underwear was kind of...eh...but really, she is pretty comfortable around Lelouch, and I don't think I'd like to lie down in that...outfit she wears, whatever it is called.

But yeah, I could probably go on and on, but I don't think the fanservice destroys the show, nor do the comedic portions. And hey, if they want to try and please many audiences, let them, that is their job after all, and I personally think they are doing a rather good job.
 
The director has said that he wasn't going to bend to the will of fans. So...Kallen has no armor cause she has fans =P!

Edit: I am also of the belief that Gino's chances of death have risen a significant amount, but still not 100% certain. If he decides to side with Lelouch he will live, if not, then goodbye.
 
When was that? She had a bit stronger focus on story at the start but she was always first and foremost fanservice. Remeraber all those early shots of her butt while in a mecha or that shower scene in I think eppy 3. Fanservice was always her primary roll. I mean, shes gotten, even in season one, way more fanservice moments then even C.C. and FAR MORE then anyone else.

I in no way think it annoying or a reflection of Kallen losing stats as a main character. I just think they are just setting up tol focus more on her love for Lelouch and maybe we will get a catfight between her an C.C.

For those that don't like such comedy then just wait till we get Kallen vs THE GREAT TRAITOR redux. You know its coming.
 
And I believe we found the differnce between the way you and I view Code Geass. I've always viewed the contraversial content in the show as little more than Shock and Awe. And the show has done nothing to prove that assumption wrong. Luckly, I love it.

Now it does provide food for thought but as much as Star wars or Star Trek does. Which is actually quite a lot. But they were always trying to remain fun as well as thought provoking.

The problem I belive is that it seems some people view using morally arabiguous characters with multiple motives, diverging personalities and views as a sign the show is going to treat the subject matter seriously and have no fanservice. On the contracty, it just makes the story fun to watch. This isn't a story like the book 1984 which seriously explores its subject matter.

I won't be suprise if people find the ending to Code Geass cliche and bad just like many feel the season 1 cliffhanger was horrible. Really, I'd expect a Cliffhanger considering how many times Code Geass includes one. And I expect this show to end without having a profound resulutuion too is moral questions beyond Lelouch fulling his contract and its consequences.
 
So two questions about ep 10

of course umm. How the hellz is there a Lelouch at Ashford Academy? This whole time I've been wondering how they'd deal with him not being there, but umm ok... I hope the ninja comments are a joke, but uhh...

#2) When the heck did Kaguya go through a growth spurt? Did you see her running in the beginning of this episode in front of Kallen? She looked like she was around 6 feet tall with legs like a runway model...
 
Now, some specific observations & comments.

-Sayako's fight was great. I think that they could have gone on like that for a long time. While one can question the sexual sanity of the artist(s) that drew a certain specific panel, there is no blatant fanservice when it's in motion and I was watching for it. That's the internet for you. If they'd really wanted to add insult to injury they would've had her go down fighting, but I'm not going out of my way to be eager for a "kill em all" series.

-I think this episode puts Villetta's loyalty in doubt. You can argue that she saved Sayako and Rolo by telling Jeremiah where Zero was. You can also argue that she was hoping he would kill them all so that she could be free. In any event she's stuck where she is, now that Jeremiah is on LeLouch's side.

-Though unexpected, Jeremiah's defection doesn't feel forced. Even back in season 1, he was always driven by pride until he was turned completely looney. Finding out that the actions of the Emperor and his allies were responsible for his first failure would be a compelling reason for him.

-V.V. really is the Emperor's brother, I guess. Ooookay, then.

-V.V. offers this comment about him and the Emperor: "We swore that we would destroy any God that made men struggle against themselves." So two possibilities, the way I see it:

1. The "God" is the Earth, specifically the division of humanity among nationalities and borders. The Emperor has an established distaste for opposing cultures as naturally inferior. So they want to use the weapon shown to Suzaku early in the season to (a) destroy everything or (b) just destroy every country not being ruled by Britannia. The Emperor agreed with the Knight of One in 12 that "only a fool wages war." Well, if you're the only power on the block, there's no one to wage war with.

2. The "God" is free will, and the rumor about an "ultimate Geass" is real. Possibly, the reason the Geass cult exists is to develop a Geass ability powerful enough to force the entire world into obedience.

-I wouldn't take Kallen's rating as proof that she's durab. It's not that she's unintelligent, but compared to Kaguya (who was likely well-educated) and Todoh and Ougi, who was the brains before LeLouch ever came along? For better or worse Kallen is a hot-blooded pilot, clearly relying more on instinct and skill in battle than the others. On the other hand, the only reason Todoh and the Holy Blades are even alive is because they had the intelligence and tactical talent to succeed against ridiculous odRAB and live to fight another day. Kallen is great, but she's not who you'd turn to first for a battle strategy.

-Have I mentioned how much I hate Rolo? I hate that little bastard. And yes, I think he did it. Shirley had a knife wound, and that's the one weapon Rolo always carries.
 
Oh? Then I take that back. I assumed the nurabers meant something. Otherwise why have them? I mean, twelve knights and Suzaku is the newest and yet he's the Knight of Seven. Seems like they are indicative of ranking. But if not, then I just sounded like an idiot
Because having your best friend hate you because you killed his girlfriend isn't awkward either >
 
You mean....in the biblical sense?

Lelouch and Suzaku were only together for the short time while Lelouch was ransomed to japan to keep the peace and falsely asure them that Britannia would not invade.

I say he is as close with Kallen, C.C. or even Shirly. You don't go beserk after someones death unless you were close to them.
 
Didn't know that, but even so it says that what they did was give lots of input on setting and characters during early development. I can believe that, considering that those things are based on very good ideas. But that's very different from CLAMP influencing the content from episode to episode.
 
You forget that at the Academy party, Villetta and Ogi where invited by random students dispite Ogi being an Eleven. Not everyone was racist at the Academy and its unrealistic to expect the whole academy would be devoid of it fair share of racist.

Also, Suzaku didn't get a warm welcome until Rivalz made frienRAB with him. Everyone was staring in shock at lelouch for being his friend but Rivalz broke the silence and befriended Suzaku.

Well, that doesn't mean the Academy (or the show) is supporting racism.
