Rebirth of the Rebellion - Code Geass R2 Talkback (SPOILERS)

Your a slow old man, GWOtaku. We are now talking about why these two are in a hotel room with a two sided bed. I sense some action has already happened. Get with the program.

Thats the same way I feel about female anime babes.

I love C.C. and Kallen not only because they are hot but they also have some great character development and are quite deep characters that leaves you wanting to see what they do next/ what happens to them.

As usual GWO, solid gold.

Also want to take this time to also say thanks all of you who make the R2 talkback a blast. There was a lot of lulz, a lot of lamentations, but ultimately a lot of fun. I really enjoyed the past 6 months in this regard, and I hope you all did too.

See you at the intervention tomorrow.

I disagree, at issue is human nature and bad judgment. Even the most basic ideas can be acted on in a good way and in a destructive, dramatically different way. I'm with Vallen, that logic rules out any idea if we were to fully carry it out.

_________

A third season is a horrible idea. I want to be clear, there is no reason they can't finish this in 50 episodes. 18 episodes is plenty of time for LeLouch to rally the world and take the fight to the Britannian mainland. If it goes longer, it'll be very dragged out. And it will suck because that extra time won't be used to focus on the world, it'll be spent on even more of LeLouch's introspection and obligatory breaks for fanservice. We don't need more of the same.

Geass isn't a war epic and will fail if it suddenly tries to be one. There isn't nearly enough actual war in this show for it to be called that. It has always, always, always been a character driven series with a mix of mecha warfare and silly fanservice supporting the whole thing. It doesn't have the political depth of Gundam 00, let alone LoGH, which trumps everyone in that department. LoGH covered more plot than Geass could ever hope to, and built up backstory throughout the series.

By all means build up some context beyond Japan's sad story, but it is way late in the game for Geass to suddenly tell us more than we'd ever want to know about China, or Europe, or what Todo was like fifteen years ago, or what kind of wacky adventures LeLouch and Suzaku used to have as kiRAB. There may be some good stories there, but none of that is relevant to the story that's being told. This is the tale of LeLouch's rebellion, and they'd be well advised to stick to it.

Suzaku: Lelouch, answer me, why did you kill Euphemia
Lelouch: Well, it's a funny story really, you're gonna laugh...

Seriously, that's going to be really awkward to explain. "Yeah, see we were talking about peace but my Geass went out of control when I said "Maybe you should kill all of the elevens.""

You know, I actually thought of that while I was typing my post. I then proceeded to bury myself in a pillow and cry gracious amounts. She's turned to the darkside and we cannot save her ;_;

What I'd expect is a story that doesn't trot out contraversial content purely for shock value. But clearly, that's all the season one finale was. Heaven forbid the staff attempt to make a natural, respectful evolution from there. Oh no, not when there are dateless fanboys who must be pandered to.

Where was it stated that he had a plan for capturing the base? We know he would have just used them instead of simply destroying them, but we don't know how he would have done so. The fact is, if any bit of that Cult was left, somebody would have taken it back to its old ways eventually, I agree with bigdeath, Cornelia said it best. The world is just better without Geass, and then Lelouch followed up by saying only 1 person neeRAB the power of the Kings. You make it sound as if capturing the base would have been simple, destroying something is a lot easier than keeping it around. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this subject.

But that's the thing. Code Geass fills itself with morally arabiguous characters with multiple motives, diverging personalities and views, and extreme opposites on how to put an end to the Britannian Empire. We want to see how they will turn out, and how they will do that. What good really is Code Geass (or any war show in particular) if there was not an exploration in morality in how to end an empire, and by what means necessary.
