Rebirth of the Rebellion - Code Geass R2 Talkback (SPOILERS)

Wow what an episode. I was worried for a moment that CC would side with Charles and Marianne, and turn against Lelouch. I loved Lelouch speech, though the ending ruined a little bit more on that later.

It turns out Lelouch's parents are not good or evil, they are just plain crazy, that is the way I see it.

Finally and I hope for good, Lelouch and Suzaka are on the same side.

But Lelouch at the end, he did exactly what he said Charles was doing before in great speech about forcing your will against others, weather you mean well or not. He is a hypcrit. CC reaction at the end, she probably thinking the same thing. She looked disappointed.

Now Schneizel and his supporters, are the ones we have to deal with. At least, unlike Charles and Marianna, he is a little more sane. He is a bad guy, but at least he is not crazy twisted.

I said it before, Lelouch is his own worst enemy. When he announced himself as Emperior, he had an evil sinister tone in his voice. Why does he always have to sound so sinister?

And what happened to VV? When Charles and Marianna died, did he die to?

Like I keep explaining, LeLouch had trump carRAB to use against Geass users. If he had followed his original plan to take over the whole Geass research facility instead of destroying it, he would have played them and there definitely wouldn't have been nearly as many casualties. I really don't think that point is up for debate, here.

Actually, now you know how I feel about other characters. Prehaps these types of characters aren't useless but they lose their effect if the view doesn't like them in the first place. So its alright to dislike shirly but she does have a point to the story. Just like I have to admit that other characters I dislike do have a point to other shows.

Yeah, it would have better just to say that instead of the slight rant I went on.

back on topic no jutsu

He is probably slipping into hypocrisy (again), to be honest...but well, the whole "Zero Requiem" / "Requiem of Zero" bit, briefly mentioned in this episode, gives me the impression that Lelouch himself doesn't expect to get a personal "good end" from all of this, and his comment about overshadowing Euphie's massacre means he is aware of how his reputation will end up in the junkyard ...thus he's being distant and cold for fear of involving other people in his scheme (aside from Suzaku and C.C.). It's obviously most counterproductive in the case of Kallen, logically and sadly...but also applies to Rivalz and the rest of the gang.

He did recognize the value of lies during the confrontation with Charles, so at least his continued use of them is consistent with that.

So do I...

[strike]True, the other fellows more of a darkish blue/violet. I think. o_o[/strike] It seemed like a dark purple the time I wrote the post.

Strike that (no pun intended), it was blue.

One thing I don't think I've seen anyone comment on is the likely fact that Cornelia's death was another Gundam homage. Struck me as a twist on Kycillia killing Ghiren.

And of course, Scheizel's hiding out in thin, floating base with rings whilst controlling super weapons...well, I've already made the Gilbert's yard sale joke.

Yup, I learned that thanks to this show

Bonuses being included is spotty. Case in point, 08th MS gets the 'All about the UC' segments, but SEED doesn't get After Phase.

And cramp the male heroics' style? No wai.

Maybe Suzaku will run into something while he's playing the caretaker of the Shinto Shrine 11 into Kallen's brother and does something about it. Whether or not he shows Kallen out of frienRABhip, compromise or threatening however is up in the air.

I'm pretty sure that the Ash Like Snow OP for Gundam 00 successfully puts the Geass OP's to shame with the way it not only sounRAB but looks. It's something that, when making an opening, one should look at and try to learn from.

I think in some ways we've seen a softening of Lelouch in R2. He's becoming less bastard with a vendetta and more manipulative freedom fighter. It's one of those things where I get the feeling there were discussions about marketability between seasons and it was decided to shift Lelouch slightly to more of a good guy and make Suzaku more of an obvious villain. Suzaku has become a turncoat in season 2 whereas in season 1 he was more of a good natured guy who was reacting to stuff up until the end. Now he's the institigator more so, the guy pulling strings and trying to throw out nasty suprises like Lelouch used to do.

Call me crazy but I'm starting to think it was'nt rolo that killed her but Sayoko. Poor Shirly was gutted like a fish. As far as we know Rolos never used a knife or anything. Also it would have made more since for him to take the gun shirly had and shoot her with it.

Just watched it not too long ago.

Nice initiative on Rolo's part at the beginning, though he's got to be worried that Nunally will "replace" him when Lelouch rescues her. Wonder if this will have any impact on Lelouch's desire to make him suffer.

VV's a boy?

I'm pretty sure we all saw the "Nunally wants to save Japan, just like her beloved (dead) cousin" twist coming. Gotta love Lelouch's AW CRAP NOT AGAIN reaction. On the other hand, this time he doesn't have to worry about accidentally Geassing her into committing a massive act of near-genocide.

Karen got upgrades! And she kicked people's asses! And she didn't get used for fanservice at all!

Lloyd's shriek of dismay when all his machines got pwnt was the best part of this episode.

Were the story a tragedy, this would've been the point where Lelouch goes "ARG EVEN MY SISTER HAS BETRAYED ME TO HELL WITH ALL OF YOU I WILL NOW DESTROY THE WORLD." Judging by the preview, that's not going to be the case. At least not yet.

Apologies if I misread things. My impression is that you feel that it was diminished or negated by second tier characters having a good outcome whereas Lelouch is misunderstood by the world at the end. In other worRAB that Lelouch deserved something better than what he got, but didn't thanks to bad writing. If I'm missing something, I'd be happy to clear that up and reframe the basis of the discussion here.

"LuLu's crazy chess, where the smug are humiliated and the loss of your self-esteem is guaranteed!"

As I've said before, they had better not be looking to repeat themselves. If they drag it out and fail to resolve things by the end of the season, it'll be a failure.

The episode itself was fine. Karen got to kick some ass again, LeLouch was LeLouch, no real complaints. I figured he was playing Rollo right off when he said he didn't value C.C.'s life at all, and that hunch pretty much got proven in spades. He's got Rollo read like a book and is fine with making use of him, but he'll never see him as more than a substitute for Nunnally. How could he, after all?

Suzaku coming to school is a twist, but it can't last long while still being believable. I don't believe LeLouch will be able to keep a cool head, for one. For two, at this point Suzaku is more than cynical enough to not believe that LeLouch's memory is still gone. This farce playing out at Ashford can't hold out for much longer, and it shouldn't. This series has bigger fish to fry.

Massive spoilers for future episodes (it explains whats going to happen soon and its a lot, don't read):
