Rebirth of the Rebellion - Code Geass R2 Talkback (SPOILERS)

Ah, maybe so. It was just interesting though to see him mingle around a bunch of weapon-wielding people who were Geass'd and while it was shown all of them were, here he comes sauntering about with his eyes closed when everybody else's was open to see that they're Geass'd.
 
That's also what PHW said when I mentioned it to her earlier as well. It was right after Lelouch came back in the publics eyes from being announced as 'dead' by the Black Knights, which is why is struck me odd that Odysseus would phrase it in such a way that could suggest two different things. I doubt Nunally is alive, but the fact that he'd even mention her seemed weird, expecially amonst Lelouch who usually flies of the hinge. His ignoring of the statement probably means what you and Von Bolt figured. It would be shocking to see her actually show up again. And Guilford..... *still upset over that*
 
wow, now that im seeing them together, i take that back.

i like how they took away the purple eyes and purple lipstick, cause those looked ugly, i hate purple, its my least favorite color. Now that i think about it, i dont like Lelouch's purple eyes either, they anoy me.
 
I don't get the feeling the Emperor really wanted to remove Zero. Sure, Lelouch was wanted as bait for CC but I get the feeling he's enjoying this. We know he gives his children positions of power to fight amongst themselves to prove who is strongest and hence next in line for the throne. Even close siblings like Cornellia and Euphie were shown to be divided over that. But Lelouch has proven himself powerful outside of that chain of command, which puts him above all his siblings. There's also the fact we don't know what happened to Lelouch's mother, quite how the Emperor got Geass and why he seemed to be aware in season one of what Lelouch is doing.

I think he wants Lelouch to prove this wasn't a fluke. Lelouch came very close to victory. Part of that was the Geass and part of it was his siblings and enemies underestimating him. The emperor wants to see if Lelouch can win in a world now quite aware of Zero and with an enemy quite ready with its own share of nasty suprises. He's running around in circles for his father's amusment.
 
Out of curiosity, did you ever happen to watch Rozen Maiden? The OP's sound like a subliminal message telling you to become as depressed as possible.

Interesting twists in this episode. One less love interest for Lelouch... It's just too typical that the inoccent one had to die. Poor poor Shirley. Rolo is gonna pay. Didn't expect Orange-kun to switch sides. And uh... ninja maid? Who knew? Very emotional episode, Geass at it's finest.

The cult certainly isn't easy to kill if a knife to the head wasn't enough to put V.V. down. And I also wouldn't be suprised if the royal family were breeded to be dominate users of Geass power. That could be one reason why the Emperor was assuming Lelouch was Zero long before anyone else seemed to have a clue in the first season.
 
If by "Chinese," you mean Eunuchs then yes. The subs basically explain that the general China hates the Eunuch, thus cheer for the Black Knights.

Zero's actions take the coupe focus away from Xing and to Zero, forcing Brit away while secretly gaining Xing as a closer ally (I mean really, Lulu isn't going to send the loli in a jail to rot. As long as Xing gets the empress safely and out of the forbidden city, Lulu gains access to China's military.)
 
I don't get why this episode jumped the shark...

Did you want Marianne to be a generic good female? I am quite happy that she turned out to be 'evil' which we don't see so often with women in anime.

That Charles wasn't so evil? Eh, I can see why people would be upset by this, but I think it is a bit more realistic for him to be somewhat good, in a twisted way. Not many are pure evil, everyone has a little bit of good in them, and there are few that don't.

Suzaku and Lelouch teaming up? Well, in the extended preview it talks about how their alliance is centered around what Shirley said to Suzaku, forgive Lelouch, believe in him.

That the plont just got pushed forward a good amount in only 2 episodes? I can also see why this would anger people, I like a good pace also, but I don't think it was really that bad, and it really did make things seem all the more epic.

Not to mention, I think this episode had some great development from Lelouch, it really said a lot about his character to reject this false idealism that Marianne and Charles kept spouting, so I enjoyed that a lot.

And now we have yet another issue, perhaps not even Schneizel, but Lelouch losing himself to Geass. While many may be upset that he Geassed the court, it was kind of needed for now, not to mention, it wasn't an absolute order, just to acknowledge him as the new Emperor.

And true, hellcat. However Code Geass isn't quite as black in white in its message as you claim it to be. Suzaku is set as the counter point to Lelouch. And he does a good job in that position. Suzaku dreams could well have been realized by Euphie's plan had it not been for Zero messing up. Euphie could every well had started a sweeping change in how the empire treats its conquered areas and if Schneizel replaced the emperor like he is rumored to be planning then the empire may very well not be the racist one we know today. Code Geass has made it quite clear that the racism stems from the emperor's philosophy and not from some inherent racism in foreigners that you seem to believe the show preaches.



Thats one of the big draws of code geass. People of tired of the pure good guy main character aka "kiras" that desperately don't want to harm anyone.
 
The newsletter, which releases episode summaries and such, said keyworRAB for this episode are...

"Prepare to pay the consequences for challenging the Knight of RounRAB."

So I doubt that somehow.

Edit: And I am sure they will do just fine with C.C., who cares if there is some fanservice?
 
Well FWIW Geass isn't nearly as commercially driven as Gundam, to which Geass owes quite a lot to. I'd say interpreting it to the extent that we are is fair game.
 
If I see Luraber Gundam, I'll be sure to tell him about the copyright infringment.

Shows post Gundam have definetly taken 'real robot' to a more serious level. But I don't see anything in Geass mecha design that is that groundbreaking or 'better' than Gundam. At least your average Gundam can get a flight pack that matches the main unit.
 
I'm pretty sure he meant way back when. And how can anyone say this is bad writing? I am glad they didn't go down a cliched road with Marianne, I am glad that she also had twisted logic and wasn't automatically going to side with her son. So it didn't go the way you wanted, that doesn't mean it is crap.

My speculation on who will side with who...

Schneizel;

-Majority of the 'old' RounRAB, save for Anya and possibly Monica.
-Nina and the science people.
-Cornelia for a good bit, but in the end she realizes his intentions aren't good.
-Lloyd and Cecile, by force.
-The Black Knights- They just aren't very intelligent.

Lelouch;

-Dorothea, she is supposedly a 'new' RounRAB, and I am assuming that Lelouch appointed her. (She is the Knight of 4, by the way).
-Kallen, maybe not at first, but we know she can't be against him.
-Suzaku, obvious.
-Lakshata/Rakshata- I really don't think she cares about him being a prince and whatnot, I predict her joining.
-Xingke and Co.- Same reasons as Rakshata, why would he care?
-Kaguya- For Suzaku.
-Jeremiah. Obvious reasons.

I'll add more later. The only real question is, will Xingke, Rakshata, etc, find out he is Zero? Who knows. If not then I don't know who, or if they'd side with anyone.
 
Nonsense, there can only be one. The other must die. Suzaku must DIE. If he lives and makes peace with Lelouch, I and so many other Suzaku haters (aka near all the fanboys of this series) are going to be very

Err, so wouldn't that be a positive message to give the Japanese if they are that xenophobic. Or is it now impossible for Japanese anime to have a positive message? Not like an anime would do anything to change such an ingrain aspect of a society.

One of the few aime blogging sites that actually does a good job of summarizing an episode in a humorous way. I got a kick out of the ' She’s still mentally unstable' caption.

I watched the episode again *has too much free time* and every time Rollo appears I get this terrible feeling. Depending on what his geass is all about, I could see him doing something to Lulu against his will. Or making him do something that Suzaku will hate him even more for with out knowing the circumstances behind it. Lulu would end up getting severely screwed over by believing that they were working 'together'.
Oh god I hate dramatic irony.
