Rebirth of the Rebellion - Code Geass R2 Talkback (SPOILERS)

I think Suzaku's worRAB a few episodes back make a reconciliation unlikely. It probably will happen but when he's talking about what happened, he noteably seems to consider Lelouch a sad loss but Euphie's death unforgivable. He's hiding too deeply behind duty and I get the feeling what he's putting Lelouch through isn't even what Euphemia would have wanted. He was somewhat wishy washy in season one but now he's ironically become much like the enemy he claims to hate. Suzaku has found his rhetoric and sticks by it, much like he got angry at Lelouch for doing. The difference is that Suzaku is believing a comfortable lie that by defending the status quo he's in the right. It's actually going to be pretty interesting to see how these new events pan out, since I think Suzaku's hatred will screw things up even if Lelouch is perfectly accomodating of Nunally's wishes.
 
That man had wonderful shoulders though. When I grow up I wish I have those shoulders too. You can probably bludgeon a person to death with them.
 
I don't know how likely it is, but if it was going to happen, this seems like as good a place as any for something to occur since we know the series is supposed to hit a more global scale eventually. Considering the next episode preview has Lelouch taking his helmet off in broad daylight, I can only guess what that might mean and who might be watching. Yes, Suzaku is still holding onto the previous season's events, but I just don't see him being able to do anything if Lelouch and the Knights peacefully accept Nunnally's request. I don't doubt Lelouch is up to something here, but at the same time, this is his sister's request. I suppose I'm more hopeful than anything, so I guess we'll see.

Something else that came to mind is the fact that Nunnally is using her royal name but both she and Lelouch had been assumed dead since they were sent off to Japan. I don't know if it's going to end up mattering, but it would seem odd for a princess everyone thought died eight years before suddenly to pop up as the new governor of Area 11.

No surprise to anyone here, but I'm waiting to be convinced. LeLouch's rebellion is inherently Japanese right now, there's no getting around that. I think the statement made in the latest episode should just be taken for what it is: the Black Knights are Japanese and will go on being Japanese no matter where they go, and they would rather leave and be who they are than stay and be called what Britannia wants them to be called. To me that's patriotic in the best sense, and the correct attitude for a people conquered by a hostile power to have.

If LeLouch later turns out to consider himself more Japanese than otherwise, that changes the discussion. However he has yet to deny his nationality; his anger is against the Emperor and his regime. Also his Britannian identity is no longer secret, but he makes no apology for it and expects loyalty from his followers regardless of it. And an ironic theme in the series has been the idea of Britannia's rule being destroyed by a man that would be considered the model of a "good Britannian" in their society.
 
Great episode indeed. I loved the bit with the model kit, haha. Cute picture. (I still hate Suzaku.)

Lelouch let's you think he'll get caught, but reveals he's actually two-three chess moves ahead of you. God he's brilliant. Here's hoping he gets out alright.

Rollo's Geass is pretty badass. Not exactly stopping time (as you noticed the water still moving while the two other people were frozen), but it seems to freeze them in their mind, making them unable to move themselves. Hell, I don't know how to explain it. It's still badass.

The "Date" bit with Lulu and Shirley was adorable. Leaves me to think that she may be the one he enRAB up with. Who knows for now! Great episode.

I'm still in awe that this is over. ;_; I've been reading most of the comments on Random Curiosity since early this morning, and there's a ton of links and stuff that could go either way with how the series ended. Some of the theories and gifs look pretty believable despite what's been seen or said. *rollls around* I feel so restless now, like I can't concentrate on anything. There's alot of rumors about future OVA's or movies as well, which I think is a good thing considering how open Lelouch's fate still looks. I like how they handled Suzaku though. He got a nice end there other than what happened with Lulu. That must have been so tough.
 
*sigh* The first season of Code Geass was so good. It was like a Gundam series, except it was actually captivating and interesting.

It's so frustrating that it devolved into Gundam levels of idiocy for the second season.
 
What of it? I find the exchange of thought to be worthwhile pursuit, which is what a good discussion is. Anyway, we digress, let's stay on topic.

Eh, I can see that we'll be having arguments about this one. My feelings are pretty mixed. I would have been happier not clicking, I think.
 
00 doesn't say "There is no God, end of". It's simply the chosen life view of the main character. In contrast, Geass is very clearly making commentary on the idea of countries and loyalty to the homeland. Suzaku is Japanese but sides with Britannia, thus making him a traitor. Lelouch is Britannian but makes Japan his new home and is welcomed as the rallying revolutionary for the opressed Japanese. Much like GWOtaku I don't want to go full blown debate on this but I'd prefer you to stop acting like I'm inserting commentary that isn't there. Likewise, stop promoting all these overblown historical quotes in an attempt to justify war and revolution. For all the positive elements you could attribute to Lelouch, I'd say the big negative the show clearly highlights is how someone with a silver tounge and charisma can lead the people into serious trouble. Not every revolutionary is a hero.
 
Finally watched the episode. 'Twas a grand ol' time despite the events revolving around it. I chuckled to myself immensely that Ashford was spared from the blast by a slight margin. Rolo's death was touching, even though he was a rather creepy, obsessive, SOB of a brother. And of course, it is rather shocking to see that according ot the main website that those victim to FREIA (including Nunally) are no longer among the living. The greater aftereffects however remain to be seen, and I can't wait to see what happens in that regard.
 
Nothing to be gained in revelling in such an ending, should it come. For me, I'm trained to be openly critical. I'm a creative person and nothing annoys me like what I perceive as mediocrity enjoying success. Geass has it's fans and that's fine and dandy. I wouldn't even call it a total loss. But R2 had alot of weight on its shoulders and is looking to have completely furabled it. Which just goes to show that yes, they SHOULD have cut out all the useless fanservice episodes that ate up time which should have gone to genuine plot.
