Rebate require BIS?

I currently have a 300 Myfaves plan w/o any data plan addon. My gf wants to get switch from att to tmo and get the curve so we were going to get a family plan.

I read that you need to have an internet plan of at least 9.99 to get the rebate. is this correct? if so, that is some BS....

Why would that be BS? It is no different than what AT$T does with their rebates as well. I can attest to that as I am recently a transfer from AT$T.. somewhat (I still have the account active as there is an issue with the number port, so for now I am keeping AT$T as well for a while so as to not lose my number). But the rebate clauses are standard in my experience with all companies and their dealigs with the smart/business phones (was that way for me with Sprint, AT$T, and Verizon, notice I said smart/business phones as these devices are aimed at a different crowd of users). I could see where one might want the curve as just a phone (as it is a solid phone and now offers H@H), but honestly you lose about half of the great integration and functionality without a data plan on a BB. Although you could try to add through a third party dealer as they sdometimes don't have the data clause added on (when I went with AT$T, CompUSSR didn't add the data clause for their instant rebate and that is how I got around it). I went throught a third party for my T-MO curve and got it for $75 with instant rebates (not sure if the data claues was there as I want and use the data). Hope this helps some an good luck in getting what you want.

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~i bought my 8100 for TMo thru wirefly and the dataplan was a requirement for the rebate. I don't remember it saying how long you had to KeEP the dataplan after you received your check

the data plan is required to get your mail in rebate as of now, you can get the 20$ BIS plan, or the 30$ BES plan or the 20$ email and text plan (available in some markets) or the 10$ email only plan, but you have to have it to get the rebates. they are requiring it now because it doesn't function propery without it so they want people to start adding it so they have a better experience, yeah they are just like some of the other companies now, but you can always take the plan off after your rebate comes in...

It's a rebate. Gotta do what you gotta do. Is it a pain sometimes to get the rebate? Yeah i will grant you that, but it is not different then any other rebates out there. You buy a car and to qualify for certain rebates you need to be a resident in the area for 12.65 years, make 30.5 thousand dollars a year, with a prior FORD product ( no matter what car you are trying to buy) with a cat named lucky that responds to the name LULU on every other Tuesday.......... Rebates are a pain and let's face it, most companies put some restriction on it that is off the wall in a hope that you will not take the time to redeem it. At least this requirement has some relevence.
