reasons to refuse medical treatment, religion, culture and individual beliefs?

I'm doing a piece of work in which I have to give one religious, one cultural and one individual reason why people refuse medical treatment
I'm getting a bit confused about the difference between religion and culture!?
I was thinking;
- Jehovah witnesses for religion
- Vegetarianism/veganism for individual (I know they don't eat meat not medicine blahh but some have views towards cruelty to animals etc, however any other individual belief suggestions are welcome)
- & I'm stuck on a cultural reason

Any help would be greatly appreciated
