yea but its completely unnecessary, basically its ridiculously convoluted complexity to achieve evil for the sake of it, which is hardly a good basis for a sci fi film, esp one that claims to be intelligent.
 
Haha, when i went to see 'Moon' (for the 2nd time) last week my friend almost booked tickets for 'New Moon' which I'm not sure I'd have enjoyed quite as much either!
 
Ah, ok. See that's the bit I missed,

the girl at the start was his daughter, which does back up the cloning theory. And I also assumed that the degeneration in his health could be attributed to the fact that his lifespan had expired beyond the 3 year period but like I said, I wasn't convinced by the whole cloning thing and assumed that his degeneration was due to the injuries sustained in the crash and that all the events that happened subsequent to the crash where just his imagination - he never actually left the crash scene, he just imagined he did, that was my take on the film. But I definitely need to re-watch it. I was also trying to work out the significance of the post-it on Gerty, there's a clue in there somewhere :D.

It's no more a human drama than it is a sci-fi mystery film and It's only point missed if you're the sort that just watches a movie and doesn't think about what's happening and why. It's fine doing that with action movies but not with one that's trying to convey a believable story. At least I don't.



Other than the harvester he crashes into because he's seeing things that aren't there? :D



How exactly would Earth's population know that a human was on the Moon doing the job? Have a think about that one...
 
Ah right, OK, just read the interview ( I do like Duncan Jones!) it's not actually a sequel, just in the same (Jones)universe and as you pointed out there will be a little epilogue of what happens to sam, but it doesn't look like a sequel as such, a different story and characters all together, just in the same Jonesivers! I'll trust DJ on this. I hear one of his next films is in German.
 
Just an assumption from me tbh, it would make sense...
I knew something was up once they slowed down the harvesters (to give him the impression that they were extending his stay beyond his final 2 weeks) and sent a rescue (clean up) team for the second clone.
Exactly what I thought after the first viewing tbh. These spoilers are doing my head in, I'm gonna stop now :D
 
I don't think there's anything "extremely dodgy" about the premise set up for this film. It's Sci-Fi, which still means that however you look at it it's going to require suspension of disbelief to work as a film at all. If you watch the DVD extras, the director is pretty candid about his created setup and the science behind it. It didn't make it any less believable or interesting to me watching it. No more or less than say, Blade Runner or Alien or 2001 or Sunshine.

I stick by my original claim, that the bigger picture is missed in this movie (in lots of movies), by hanging on semantics. It's a terrific film, and Rockwell is phenomenal. Just because I choose not to consider at length how much clones cost to produce and maintain etc and other various details, it doesn't make me a fool for enjoying this film. :rolleyes:
