I'm looking for (as the question states) some REALLLY good teen action/romance books. I like them to have mostly action with some romance, but not so much romance that it's sickening. (Example: Evernight by Claudia Gray; I thought the romance was way overblown.) I especially like the romance where the girl isn't interested in love or relationships but the guy is charming and persistent, and then eventually (even if it's over the span of multiple books), they get together at long last. But there needs to be decent buildup, not just the two characters barely interacting and then all of a sudden--BOOM! they're in love. (I read Dark Star by Bethany Frenette recently and felt like the romance at the end came out of nowhere and was totally unexpected--in a bad way.)
Supernatural is okay sometimes, but I have a hard time taking vampires, werewolves, etc. seriously (and I won't deny that it's partially because of Twilight). If there is a supernatural element, I think it works best in earlier eras, for example the medieval era.
I know I have a lot of specifications and I'm kind of picky, but please give me any suggestions you have! Because of schoolwork and such, I haven't had much time to read, so I probably will not have read most of the suggestions.
