So im buying a car that im gonna fix up. the car is in awful shape and covered in rust spots butim getting it cheap and i love it. the rust is really really really bad as in over 10yrs of rusting... (its a 1971 vw) how do i get rid of the rust? can i get rid of it? do i have to pay some one??

youre better off replacing the rusted parts and panels.
i order to fully remove rust you must cut out the cancerous rusted parts and weld in new sheet metal, grind it down smooth and repaint IMMEDIATELY, its a lot of unnecessary work since those cars have their own catalog at JC whitney and the catalog is full of replacement and even OEM parts.
